Legislation against strikes

Anyone find it ironic that this Government insist on bringing in legislation in order to have minimum standards of care on strike days, yet have no compunction to provide a decent service on non strike days?
First we lose the right to live and work across Europe.

Then we get a Public Rights Bill reducing the freedom to protest.

Now we have an attack on the freedom to strike.

The British citizen is losing a lot of the freedoms they used to have just 7 short years ago. How far and wide will these restrictions go before some wake up to what is happening?

It almost makes you think it’d be better if the nurses were permanently on strike.

Then the government would have to fund the minimum standards they think we need and we’d all know what we can expect.
After my Dad's experience with the ambulance service this time last year, it might have been better if they'd been on strike. 4 days.

The ** government need to sort all these energy crisis pay awards out, instead of putting up more barriers & trying to silence people. Or call an election now.

The government are also making it more difficult to vote.

What were the minimum standards of care over the 12 years in which the Tories were cutting back on public services? This anti-strike legislation is about trying to cover their own backs for the willful damage they've done to standards of public service.

I loved that Union boss (ASLEF) first reply when the chairman of the select committee asked him this morning how far are we off a settlement so on a scale of 1-10 (1 being low 10 being very high or in his words “I can go any buy a hat for the holiday” his reply was well Mr Chairman you didn’t include zero in that scale and that’s where we are right now. 🤣

I watched some of yesterday's HofC debate about minimum standards. The Tory message ad infinitum, was about Labour's Union paymasters. It's as if they've never moved on from the 70s and their PR team just tell them to keep repeating the phrase.

That was over 40 years ago. Today's trades unions represent public sector workers who have been repeatedly shat on by Tory Governments. The public want decent services not Thatcherite soundbites. This lot haven't got a clue. They really are a piss poor set of political has beens.

So they're going to ban strikes?
Do they think that they can force people to go to work?
Will they throw them all in Prison?
What if Prison Officers go on strike simultaneously?
What will Rishi Sunak think of next?
As one of my mates said, banning public sector workers from striking means that they are no longer workers, but indentured servants with no rights.

Tories wanting to bring back feudalism. What a surprise.

We'll all have to wear caps, and then doff them whenever we meet a Tory.

... and of course we'll have to go cap in hand to them to get a bowl of gruel!!!

Wiz, I was a Public Sector worker for 48+ years.
Went on strike as Branch Secy in Customs at Luton Airport.
Unfortunately it made no difference because many stayed in work.

The I.T. behind the Benefits System will mostly be run by privately contracted companies using offshore resources so will probably keep ticking along.

British jobs for British offshore workers.

To be fair, most benefits systems are now back being run in house, as the offshore companies made it so difficult and costly to make any changes.

Are employers going to want to dismiss striking staff who ignore a “work notice”?

I thought there was a skills shortage and problems with recruitment?

We have a suite of offices in our building in case any Ministers venture North and want to do some work.

As if...

That's why the current industrial unrest has happened.

The temerity to say 'Can i have some more?'

So people will disobey Sunaks' orders.
Will he throw them all in prison?
Then the Prison Officers will go on strike.
What next Mr PM? 😠

Those that miss being in the EU make comparisons with Europe when it’s suits.

But on this particular topic, they won’t make the comparison with major EU member states who indeed have such legislation.

I wonder why that is? Ssshhhhh.

Wiz, when Labour are installed as the next ruling government in this country will you promise me one thing ? Please don’t spend the next 4 years blaming the tories for everything. Instead put your money where your mouth is and back and defend everything Labour does. P.S. I’ve bookmarked your reply already 😁

Why not? The Tories still harp on about Labour leaving them a note in 2010.

Is that what you expected? 😉

They've already made it illegal for prison officers to strike, Dave

The next move will be to transport illegal strikers to Australia.

Don’t worry about the skills shortage. We have hundreds of engineers, doctors and Lawyers arriving in small boats every day on the south coast.

Ahh isn’t that nice of you accepting all these skilled people from afar to help us out in these dark times. Bless you.

Where do all these strikers think the money is going to come from …. the Magic Money Tree. A lot of the people wanting to strike now were happy when they were furlowed and even happier when they had another job as well as getting 80% wages for sitting on their arses in the sun ! And what about the scammers who took the piss taking excess time off work … we all know loads of them…. and loads of self employed who got free grants - people got very short memories wgphen it suits them !
