Leigh have spent stupid money in what is basically a part time league. I think they have 14 "quota" on the books, those are non-UK players. The Super League only allows 7 so they will have to get rid of some if they win the playoffs. They have just signed Lachlan Lam from Sydney Roosters, the top flight Australian league which is better than Super League. Something needs to be done really as this is happening each year, first Toronto, then Toulouse, now Leigh. The rest of the league are just making up numbers each season. York are 6th in the league which shows the magnitude of the problem.

A mate is a Leigh fan. Their owner seems to be very impulsive, one minute he is buying them into Super League, then the next he is going to sack all the players.

Big loss to Barrow (my team). Unfortunately Newcastle are in absolute freefall and seemingly the owner has withdrawn. Part time on the way. Shame they seemed to be getting traction and getting steady uplift in crowds. Newcastle have been good for NE Rugby League developing a network of clubs: Cramlington; Catterick; Wallsend etc through their youth programme. The game cannot let this one fail. The club perhaps could have done more to exploit local interest.

Sadly, RL is struggling throughout England. Even the ‘so called’ big clubs: Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Leeds, Hull are getting nowhere near the crowds of pre-covid. Contrast this with Australia. Vibrant.

I subscribe to www.watchnrl.com, they show every game each week (8 games per round over 4 days). You can watch them live or full game replays. It's 130 quid a year, but you also get to watch their other stuff including the Matty Johns show.

I haven't been to a RL game since Vince XXXXX swung his can of Newkie Brown into the face of a Hull fan, fight followed and pitch invasion from Hull fans and Blackpool (FC) fans with all hell breaking loose on the pitch.

that does nobody any good. You are right. There is a big gulf in class between say, Leigh and Workington in the Championship. Was a one off for York. In league one, West Wales Raiders seem to get beat by big scores. Apart from that Rugby League is very exciting.Being a bit naughty here, I bet you are a bit of a fan of the game really. Go on, Admit it ?.
