I get we’ve got a system and formation and we’ve tweaked from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3 but there’s lots of times that this doesn’t work but we never ever change it.

Anytime we make subs which is always after 60 minutes and nearer to 70 minutes, it’s just a player to swap position with another player in the hope they do something different.

I’m not sure if Coulson is any better than what we had in Thompson (yes Thompson) or Dale (aka Ryan Giggs the moment he left). He’s in the team for balance but turns back or inside?

I’m not sure why we hit long diagonals to small players and I’m not a fan of strikers who don’t score goals… yep that’s the white Pele (smirks).

We’re not far off for the play-offs but I don’t think when push comes to shove we’ve got the bollocks to get in there.

The thing is, I’m not sure why we haven’t? Is it the gaffer’s tactics (I wish one day he’d proper give a shit ref some shit), is it the players, or is it a combo of both?

We do need a bit of stability after last seasons complete disaster off the pitch and on it, but we also need to start acting like we want a bit more as a Club. Whether that be new East Stand capacities, recruitment of players and in-game tactical changes as it looks like we’re happy being safe and filling in risk assessments with everything we do.

There still a bit to play for but the main thing that needs to happen is we have to win and we’ve just got 2 points from 9. Never say never but might be an idea to kick on sharpish.

We normally say the subs and the minutes before the game, been right way too much this season. If a simpleton like me can do it surely opposition management must be able to and be ready to counter act. Unfortunately we tend not to need counteracting as there's very little change just fresh legs.

I think there’s just a lack of ooomf (for want of a better expression) throughout the Club.

We seem to be lacking a collective set of bollocks and any sense of personality. It’s probably the most ‘vanilla’ period we’ve ever had in our recent history. We seem to be morphing into a pound-shop PNE.
That's the most accurate post you've written for a long time, it explains it perfectly. What colour do you get if you mix vanilla with grey because that is what we are. 70 minutes, subs made, it's the same every game, it's Mecanno football and that was the dullest toy of all time. Sadlers boring, Critchleys boring, the club is a comfy pair of slippers for the criminally boring!

When Ollie was manager he used to change formation all the time and players swapped sides all the time too, we are so one dimensional under Dr Borefest 532 was bad enough ut 343 is even worse, we need to play with 2 up front, having one central attacker is wank.

I don’t want to agree with both posts because that would be negative but🤷🏿‍♂️

I bet Critchley has all his graphs, bar charts and subboteo tables out at home , just need him to start looking at plan b and c now instead of his little fantasy football
Credit where credit is due. At least Lyons got 4 minutes for this Boro chump we have signed

He's in the team for balance, yet persists on CJ playing on the right all the time lol.

The last transfer window was garbage let's be honest

2 for the future a midfielder who's hardly played and a left back who isn't any better than Thompson

When we signed Byers I was convinced the manager would revert back to a 433 with 3 proper midfield players out of the coaching manual a 6 an 8 and a 10

Let's not forget this was his favourite formation when he first joined us granted it didn't work but we actually have the players now for a Poundland version on Liverpools 433

Bizarre

He's a bog average lower league manager who will become a journeyman going around the Oldhams, Rochdales etc of this world. No one wants to admit it.

We can see he's out of his depth and has no-one around him to shake it up. Our in game tactical management is appalling. As for subs on 72 minutes, give me strength, we needed to win that game and we only gave it a proper whirl for 25 minutes.

Lighter ever so slightly yellow tinged grey.

The Byers one will be interesting because will he have the balls to change formation or to drop Norburn? Or will it be easier to keep Byers on the bench?

NC was about 2 months later than everyone on playing Dembele but now seems set on a 3-4-3, which means we struggle as neither Rhodes or Lavery look effective as a sole central striker.

Throw into the mix that the any of the wing-backs we play don’t look like natural wing backs and the centre of your back 3 looking shakier than a shitting dog and you do have to wonder what we’re up to.

Maybe a long diagonal to a small player can sort it?

It looks easy enough to me

Husband left back
Gabriel right back

2 centre halves one of which is Marv whilst we still have him

a midfield 3 of Norburn, Byers and Morgan

A front 3 of Dembele, Joseph and one more of whoever can play 70 minutes or so

Bizarre letting Dale go considering he's our only right footed winger and he hasn't been replaced

Those who think Coulson is a replacement for Dale are as thick as fcuk

Another window wasted but at least give us a chance by trying to play our better players in their correct roles

Critchley will never change it

If he changes it then he would have to have been wrong for the last 8 months.

Let's just keep smashing our faces into this brick wall as it's more likely to prove fruitful.

I don't understand the Byers loan if he isn't going to change it

Byers is everything that people want Carey to be and what Critchley thought the lad from Brighton could have been

It's a right mess

Either that Phil or 4312 for me. At the moment Grimmy and the back 3 are as shaky as hell

We continually get brushed aside and need the additional proper (ie can tackle, pass, and who knows, even have a shot) midfielder. The answer which has been there all season long, is to ditch one of the back three and set up more conventionally. Watching Marv, Pennington and even now Husband treat the ball like a hand grenade is a tough watch.

It really is as simple as this.

However, at the start of the season when we played 3 in the middle they were hamstrung by being stuck in positions like on a netball court, unable to fluidly interchange. This resulted in Carey, Weir and even Morgan who now looks decent being bang average.

The 2nd half at Fleetwood changed this as he had to get Dembele in the team, but even at Bolton he played him behind Rhodes which left him isolated and we still had 3 in midfield.

Gabriel is a great right back, but he’s not going to give much offensively as right wing back, I would like to see his assist stats from crosses, it’ll be very close to zero. We’re watching Coulson wonder about but he’s a downgrade on Luke Garbutt in League 1.

I just think we’re not really sure what we’re trying to do. It was lauded by a few when we signed that Celtic young lad and the Brighton striker 18 months ago and they’ve not kicked a ball or been close to the 1st team. We then have the most exciting talent coming through and we send him back off to Tranmere where he’s excelled. What’s the actual strategy with this or is just taking gambles?

Have we ended a game strongly this season? Doesn't matter if we are winning, losing or drawing but my feeling is that we are really poor in the last 25 minutes in every game!

Casey has over taken Marv as our best centre back this season. Yet is sat on the bench,

Everything is utterly bizarre. We've lost almost every away game this season. Yet the formation and personnel were the same.

We might as well attack these shite teams and go out on our sword. I feel like everything about the club is comfortable staying at this level.

The players. Manager. Coaches. Owner at Blackpool FC are not showing signs of a desperation to get promoted.

It was obvious to me (& many others, I'm sure), Lavery was getting no change from their big number 5.
So why not change it at ht & bring kouassi on, before 70th minute?
WHY DOES HE NEVER CHANGE IT AT HT, apart from Fleetwood obviously, as fans demanded.

Why cant Coulson cross just 1 decent cross?

Also if we pump it forward, try Joseph, not Lavery or Dembele (obvious)
.
Also leve Dembele up when defending corners & free kicks, why have him defending at 5ft? Opposition will need 2 or 3 back for cover!

Grrrr rant over! For now!

He’s just one of those players who will cruise through his career, make a decent living but can’t see him achieving any more than that.

Phil don't ever apply for the manager's job whilst SS as that selection is far too adventurous.
The sad thing is he can't change now because he is probably going to throw himself under the bus he is currently driving because that team and formation is brilliant.

Just going to look like a dick if he does and more foolish if he doesn't.

Spot on, there's no master of the dark arts, no GTF style winding everyone up, no Uncle Richard scare them to death with a stare, no leaving a foot in now and then, it's all tippy tappy 'after you stuff', we need more bellendery.

In short, get Gaz Goals back in.

Yep… There’s a lot of players who your mum would describe as “What a lovely lad - and so well mannered and polite - why can’t you be like that” etc..

Whereas we possibly need a few ..

“Don’t be bringing that c&nt to our house again” types ..

'We'll not be inviting the Taylor Fletcher boy out to dinner again Kathryn, he seemed like a nice young chap but elbowed your father out of the doorway in to a water feature when no one was looking on the way in and then every time a waiter came he whispered that they were cnuts who'll be lucky to get out of here in one piece'

We do have Hubby, Norburn, Kouassi but the rest a right load of Jessie’s! The manager is an Agatha Drinkwater Tablet too!

The only hope is that he will do this but Byers isn’t match fit yet - Critchley said he’s got 50-60 minutes in him.
Even so, in that case start him and look to get a 2 goal lead before having to sub him.

‘Listen love, I’m sure Gary Brabin is a lovely bloke, but we can’t have him pinning your father up against the wall just because he finished his tea before him or growling back at our Alsatian and threatening to kick lumps out of him just because the dog looked at him funny’.

He's played 22 games this season in the Championship, I'd be extremely disappointed if he wasn't ready from the off.

Yeah scrap what I said, fitness not the issue with starting him ;
"It was late December when he last played, but he’s been fit though. We had a little game in the week behind closed doors and he played 50/60 minutes. As I said to the players at the start of the week, the team that plays against Oxford probably won’t be the same as the one that plays Shrewsbury in three weeks time. Everyone needs to be ready to contribute.”
