Seemed a strange bunch - pre match I didn’t see that many but all seemed pretty subdued .

spoke to a few and they were cockily confident.

there was a mob of them giving it a bit large before game but even they weren’t intimidating.
In the ground they were noisy after they scored and the mob to the right seemed to keep it going most of the game so fair enough they also stayed after to cheer their team off so good on them.

after match I again didn’t see many but the ones I saw didn’t seem devastated - just overall a strange bunch .

thought Appleton has done well for them but not sure if that was their high or more to come.

anyone else ?

Spoke to a couple in an Irish bar after the match and they didn’t seem surprised that they had lost. They were very pleasant and wished us all the best for the following season. Their main concern was talk of them selling their ground and moving to an out of town development, they really didn’t want that.

I was in Lincoln Hospitality (undercover - I saw another half dozen Pool fans doing the same). They were very pleasant. Agree with you that they were loud early on and that’s about it.

Credit to the Pool fans. They sounded extremely loud at times for just 4K.

Saw a fair few of Lincoln in tears after, however I don’t think they can complain that the best team won. I have a soft spot for Lincoln and their fans have always been good company.

What a fabulous day and weekend!

Due to getting there a bit late because of the accident I found a bar had a quick drink and got to the stadium. Never even got to Wembley way so didn't see any Lincoln fans. However on the return to the coach the few I came across were all congratulating Blackpool. "The better team won, You deserved it, Good luck in the Championship".

They were struggling in the National League about 5 years ago. To play in a Play Off final to reach the Championship would seem like incredible progress whatever the score.

10 years ago we were in the top flight so losing a 3rd tier final would probably be more difficult to take for our fans.

The Lincoln fans were at their loudest half hour before the game, they were practically silent throughout it even when they scored.

I've just read their match day thread and whilst the majority of them were ok there were a few that, let's just say, would blame 101 other things rather than say they were beaten by the better side.

Apparently the ref should have awarded them at least FOUR penalties, Husband should have been sent off, he gave us everything and Lincoln nothing all game.

Another complemented us on our play saying, "They're nothing but a hoofball team, wont last 5 minutes in the championship ".

So, for most of the good uns you'll always get a few dingbats just as we have on here.

A good friend of mine is a Lincoln fan. He was very magnanimous in defeat but I suspect he was as gutted as I would have been if the result were the other way.

One thing he said to me stuck in my head "if you dont have a shot on target in a playoff final... you dont deserve to win". A credit to our defense/ midfield/ manager/ Yates' relentless pressuring.?

I like to think I'm unbiased even where the pool are concerned. My response to him which is stand by was... If VAR had been in play would our first have stood the rigours for the (modern interpretation of) handball? Etc etc...

It is what it is and I'm elated because of it. I do feel we were better. I don't think the ref swung one way or the other by a decent margin. But I still feel bad for Lincoln because imo, like us they deserved to be promoted. It's the only time I've thought this of the opposition in a playoff game. Not because of their performance on the day but because they're a well run club with genuine fans.

Did you see the comments about the two “ spawny “ shots !!! You mean two excellently taken strikes , positioned perfectly in the bottom corners, one with a right and one with a left !!!

The Lincoln fans played their part in the defeat with their shite support of the team on the day. We cheered our team onto victory while they sat there on their hands. It makes a massive difference having your fans behind you.

Reasons given include that they were absolutely baking in the sun, had a large number of out of city middle class wide brimmed hat fans instead of hard core inner city types; and their stewards were far more on it with enforcement of face masks and social distancing than the free for all that Pool fans managed to get away with.

Spoke to three of them for 20 minutes or so on the tube in from central London.

Three really nice fellas actually, not cocky, knowledgeable about the game and us in general, we were asking about the fitness in each squad etc and we all agreed it was a 50/50 game.

Got to agree they were silent for most of the game, but they’re a different type of club with a different sort of fan base it seems to me.

The first thing that struck me about our support was just to the right of me 500 or so had automatically congregated behind the goal to form a singing section, largely because of that all of us didn’t stop singing from twenty minutes before KO to the minute the players left the pitch after the celebrations. It made a real difference. That’s the type of fan base we have.

Lincoln don’t have that, but I wish them well after poor ownership saw them in the doldrums seem like a decent bunch.

Our group actually live in or near Lincoln so we travelled down and returned on the East Coast Line with quite a few Lincoln supporters and saw quite a few in the bar at Kings Cross. Friendly banter before and after all said we deserved to win.

I live in a neighbouring County to Lincolnshire and go there a few times a year playing golf. They are a totally different breed to us sandgrowners
Living in the Fens where they are very laid back and it’s a much slower pace of life They don’t get as excited as we do!

For Blackpool fans playoff finals are quite a regular experience, I think we know what we need to do and try to play our part. Other teams have hardly played at Wembley, I'm sure it would be different if Lincoln get there again.

Appleton is a great manager and it seems that he spends his time making tactical plans either in the gym or at the tattoo parlour.

Lincoln fans not cocky or intimidating, very friendly, far better than the last time I attended vs West Ham who were exactly the opposite
