Lineker

Personally, I like Lineker. He's someone who stands up for what he believes.
He's a good 'un and was one of the best 6 yard strikers I've ever seen.
His presenting is typical for what the Beeb wants - sanitized, plain and non-offensive.
That's not his fault, but you can see from his private mutterings that he really has stronger opinions that can't be shared through the Beeb.

I guess likeability all depends on your political view, nowadays.

Peace out, man.

So you agree that the tweet about Rooney should be deleted as mooted by him?

Great guy, sorry the others cant see it

Yes he's spot on.

If people want to mock individuals on their own private Twitter handles then for enough but it's not for an organisation to openly mock a man after hes lost hos job. The BBC handler is an idiot.
To a point fair comment, but my slant on the story is about Lineker who recently compared a certain policy to the holocaust, and yet he takes issue on a very tongue in cheek acknowledgement to Rooney, who frankly was crap.

That’s his opinion. Personally I couldn’t care much worse tasteless shit is on social media. Oh & I quite like him he’s a decent footballer turned presenter.
I like Likeker as a presenter but he does have a bit too much to say...

However, it is wrong for the BBC as an organisation to be mocking individuals as they have done with Shrek in this instance...

Quite funny mind you! 😆
Again fair points, but Lineker's comments really smack of hypocrisy after his recent outbursts, bearing in mind he's employed by the 'organisation'

I d just like to go back to the days when the TV companies employed people that had a talent for it.

These modern soft cocks couldn’t hold a candle to the likes of Bob Wilson, David Coleman, Brian Moore, Barry Davies, Dez Lynham etc…
Couldn't stand Brian Moore. And Coleman was more known for his gaffes. Charming as he was, he wasn't really that great. Always had time for Davies and Peter Brackley, though.

He didn't compare a certain policy to the Holocaust, but lets not let facts get in the way !

I like him and I like that he says what he thinks

Yes he did, but omitted using the actual word, Google it so facts don't get in the way.
Well if you have Googled it why don't you end me the link ?

I don't need to Google it, because I know in essence what he said

He referred to the policy and language being used as being similar to that in Germany in the 1930s . There was no Holocaust in the 1930s

The biggest problem these days is everyone wants to be or thinks they are a politician. It gets wearing.

The biggest problem these days is that the politicians are SO shit and SO corrupt that they would probably do a better job.

I prefer to listen to some of the pundits than Lineker myself. Lineker is ok but IMO Danny Murphy or Jermaine Jenas or Micah Richard’s (for added laughter) are a better listen. Carragher n Neville are a great watch too. For me, the best all round pundit and very likeable bloke is Clinton Morrison.
Just sayin.

Lineker is outstanding at his job. Better than Jimmy Hill, Bob Wilson, Des Lynam, Alex Scott, Claire Balding, Gabby Logan. He will be appreciated when he has gone, probably the last male, even heterosexual , regular presenter of Match of the Day.

He didn't, unless I missed that. But he did quite correctly compare some of the language used by the then Home Secretary as being similar to that used in 1930's Germany, which is historically accurate.

Absolutely nothing like it. For a start it was in English not German. :)

Without doubt there are some outstanding politicians post on the other side of this message board... and constantly remind us how clever they are😉

Morrison sounds like a wannabe South London gangsta....

Free speech. The man can say what he wants to say as long as it's not live on the 'neutral' BBC for me. Amazes me that his biggest critics as often the ones who champion free speech and campaign against cancel culture, very hypocritical.

I think Neville is very good, disagree with pretty much everything else. Jenas is the beige man of TV, and he’s everywhere. Must have a brilliant agent
