Little Midge flies

We have a bit of a problem with them that we think stems form Chilli plants, herbs and some houseplants. Chilli and herbs have gone, but can't lose the houseplants.

I know of a couple of other houses that have the same problem, one of which is far worse than ours.

Any ideas of best way to get rid. Repotting doesn't seem to work apparently.

They bread fast, multiply rapidly, not easy to grid of, I can’t really give you any advice, except keep at it.

They are probably fungus gnats. By the time you kill the adult flying ones (fly paper, spray or drowning) they will already have larvae growing in your compost. A layer of gravel can sometimes break the cycle.
