Liz Truss

She is totally batshit crazy these days.

'Judge a man by the company that he keeps' - Truss knocking around with Bannon, Farage and assorted right wing fruit cakes. I feel there is more appetite for Truss in the US because they don't really understand how utterly stupid and delusional she is.

I am amazed that she thinks that the financial markets (which actually caused her downfall) are a part of the 'deep state', infiltrated by 'the left'. She also calls the OBR part of the deep state - ironically if she had heeded their advice she would probably still be PM.

Beat me to it ElBurro. I was reading it thinking, hang on...she and Kwarteng spooked the financial markets. Hardly a hotbed of Militant socialism.

one of her recent speeches she claimed that corporations are infested with leftist (whatever they may be) activists, she's an absolute nutter, on a level with some of the loons in the states.
Yes. It was that the civil service has been taken over by Trans activists.

It’s heading towards the “Reds under the bed” hysteria of the 1950s.

It's just amazing that anyone with a brain takes any notice of her at all.

To think she was once a LibDem!

It was truly embarrassing when she was made PM. Jesus H Christ what were the Tories actually thinking 🤷‍♂️

She’s an odd one, for sure. Seemingly indestructible self-belief/confidence/arrogance.

Even if you disagree with a politician, you can generally see where they’re coming from - but in this case, not….

What a deluded chump she is. Still no apology for ruining lives with her half baked plan. For some reason the Tories lumped on her and her hopeless sidekick. I think it was partly to see off Penny Mordaunt, who seems to have a few sheds of decency and would have been something approaching a safe pair of hands.

Yep she is an odd one, but you could perhaps see where she was coming from, as she was hiding in plain sight.

She was one of the authors of "Britannia Unchained" which set out an extreme neoliberal agenda, which she immediately tried to implement.

One of her fellow co-authors was Kwasi Kwarteng...

I'm genuinely curious what our resident Tories think of her. Is there anyone out there who thinks she was harshly done by, and if so, what are her redeeming features?

Complete waste of space.

One thing that doesn’t get mentioned that often - is that due to their stupid budget and the BOE bailing out the Gilt / Bond markets - the BOE actually ended up making billions of profit because of it!

My take is that there are elements of the Tory party that are realigning to an even harder right, in an attempt to address the challenge from the right Farage/Reform/Populist appeal.

Truss is part of that. As are Braverman, Rees Mogg, Anderson, Badenoch etc. Hence the embarrassment of “who can grovel the most to Trump?” (The answer by the way is Farage).

Their battleground first and foremost is immigration. Followed by “woke” and all that.

And they are all fighting for the disgruntled white working class “we’ve been abandoned” vote. Plus the diminishing “we’ve been abandoned but we read the Daily Mail and are middle class” vote. And think immigration and woke will mark them out as being different. Really?

Personally I think “it’s the economy” stupid. Sadly the ability of any party to deliver on that front is limited given the state of the global economy and, of course, the own goal disaster that was Brexit.

When ministers have a big decision to make they often ask their civil service (cs) team to write them an options paper.
This would usually have the following format:
- the option the cs team wanted - which was usually the most sensible
- a possible alternative which was either too expensive or too controversial
- something completely batshit crazy to prove they had considered all options.

Liz Truss's team quickly stopped doing this because she kept on choosing the their option.

Option 1 is always do nothing. And then explain why that is usually not a good idea.

I think a lefty is someone who is not as bat shit right wing extemist as her. She is also claiming the Civil Service has been infiltrated by trans and environmental extremists. Makes a change from entitled public school sorts who have been the dominant forces till now.

It’s like she’s been brainwashed by some weird sect. She was brought up in a socialist household and was herself a Lib Dem for some time.

I was watching a clip of this, alongside Bannon.

She was close to calling for Trump style insurrection.

I'm sure Rishi will now remove the whip, her views are incompatible with even this extremist Tory Cadre

Rishi won't remove the whip from anyone.
His 80 majority goes down every week through self inflicted bye elections.

Way down the rabbit hole. Malice through the *ucking Ass

She is a fûcking disgrace.

Evil bîtch, her ego has been so badly damaged by her wholesale rejection from the population of the UK, she's willing to side with the weirdest and most dangerous lunatics around. Its like she's a batman villain that's just climbed out of the toxic goo.

She knows what bannon is saying is false but knowingly fails to correct him just to pander to his message.
