Loan Penalty Fees

Just been reading Gary O'Neill (from Wolves) referring to having to pay penalties to the lending clubs if loan players aren't picked for the team. Unbelievable! I hope this form of arrangement doesn't affect us too much.

There will be loads of different little agreements within loan contracts. I seem to remember Patino had an agreement for a minimum of 10 games or something through the season which given his ability wasn't really a risk. Can't see us taking risks on those kind of clauses on players like say Weir for example but Dembele might have. Think it's a normal thing. Owning clubs want to protect the development of their player. I think it's fair enough tbf.

Yes but if it comes at the detriment of the borrowing club, financially it could be a problem.

I think Huddersfield had to pay us one when Jordan missed that penalty against Exeter. 😃
I wonder who's taking them today? Dembele?

Good question. Surely Norburn has a decent spot kick in him, if fit- Morgan?

I’d give the job Dembele he strikes a ball beautifully. JR has missed a few considering his striking prowess

Yeah they have all sorts of clauses and agreements in loan contracts, things like the loaning club pays a set monthly fee/wage percentage if they play an agreed number of minutes, but a higher one if they don't.

Talking of loans I watched a good little podcast the other night interviewing Gary Bowyer and he said when he was at Derby coaching the youth players Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney had done a deal for Bowyer to go on loan to Salford for the rest of the season.Possibly the only manager to go on loan?
