Losing Dougall

At one point last night I genuinely had to go back to look at the team news to see who are midfield was!
The whole game seemed to pass CJ, Morgan and Byers by.

He was probably fed up of playing Critchball. I can't blame him for going.
He didn't say that in his leaving statement did he.

In fact it's interesting he singled out his time under Critchley has his best - no mention of dumb and dumber last season.

Meanwhile, having said that he has been our best midfielder in the last decade, it was obvious we were going to miss him - and we do.

Another thread where a player not in the team is the best thing since sliced bread. KD was very limited in the things he did well and would have made little (granted, some) difference, but nowhere near enough.

Don't get me started on Dale........

That's your opinion and you are completely entitled to it.

This is pretty much the first thread I've ever started, and I did so because it's my opinion that Dougall was our best player, and that was my opinion for some considerable time before he left. I've posted many statistics in the past which I think demonstrate he was a very good player even in the championship so I'm not going to share them again.

Whilst I believe he was the best tackler in the team and extremely composed and intelligent in possession, what set him apart for me, was his discipline and positional sense out of possession.

Most football fans don't seem to believe that's actually a thing IMO and only see "has ball, kicks ball" and assigns a value of brilliant/useless to every player based on a subset of what actually matters in what, behind "kick it in the goal" is really a pretty complex team sport.

But that's just my opinion.🙂

And you are absolutely right.

'Limited' - nonsense.

We needed Kenny last night. Byers seems to be the same type of player as Morgan, so we had no steel at all in midfield. I like Morgan. He has time on the ball, can pass and shoot. But if nobody makes the runs into space, what can he do? I thought we missed Coulson, who does run into space and gives balance on the left.

Dale who was subbed off at half time last night after a shocking 45 minutes, apparently?!
Never said he was a world beater but he was much improved with us when he was allowed to play, then dropped. Critchley out.

I do sometimes wonder whether we just didn't see the best of Dale, he clearly had plenty of ability. However, I do also wonder whether he's ever going to deliver end product to match his ability. He reminded me of Keshi in some ways, and I thought he might have made a good attacking centre mid, but Keshi managed to be a genuine menace; kinda thought Dale looked like a menace without quite delivering.

We'll probably never know the ins and outs of what happened but I'm not sure we can blame NC for that one. If I'd have been in charge, I'd have done everything in my power to persuade him to wait til the end of the season though.
I don’t think it matters if it’s NC fault or not.
Just blame him anyway.

Dougall playing right now. Buriram 1-0 up but down to 10 men. No doubt Kenny keeping it solid in the middle.

They won in his first game too.
