M55 to get Service Station

Quite amusing really on a 15 minute stretch of motorway.

Could work if it's one of those fancy farm shop types. Like a destination place to go and eat and purchace fancy overpriced foods.

Will be near the new junction.

Macs, there's a TV series about the one near to Lancaster.
Looks fantastic, and top quality goods.
Of course there will also be 'Top quality prices'. 😉
We actually stopped there a few years ago, very nice.

Not just a bit pointless, absolutely pointless. There's a service station just before you enter the motorway. Digging up a fair amount of green belt for no reason whatsoever.
If you think that the land near junction 2 is green belt, I've got some very bad news for you about the housing developments planned 😂

Spot on, pity the idiots of this land don't realise this. Makes you wonder what it will take for the penny to finally drop.

Green land, houses are being built along the new link rds taking up green land, where else can they build. We need houses, to use less green land should they build sky scrapers.

Brown field sites, like Preston Docks and around (where they are building). But many want to live close to a motorway junction.

Lots of cars = lots of petrol needed.
Lots of people commuting to M/cr,Liverpool etc = convenience shopping for groceries.
Lots of families stuck in heavy traffic = lots of people needing a wee wee.

I think you're going to see a new generation of service stations - which are designed to charge the nation's new electric vehicles.

They will try and make them as off grid as possible; so expect to see loads of land covered with solar panels, two or three winds turbines etc (and some diesel generators for when it's dull and still).

It takes what 3 minutes to fill a car; 20 minutes minimum for an EV - so you need 6x the capacity just to cover the basics.

The service stations will probably start thinking about themselves as a "destination" - how much can we get out of you whilst you sit waiting for your car to charge.

As it stands Blackpool doesn't have the facilities to charge enough EV's, something has to give

It's actually a pretty smart move.

there’s a future ´vision’ for an EV owner to rent or lease a battery, drive into a service station and have the battery replaced as quickly as it takes to fill up with petrol.

The next problem now being mentioned with EV's is the chronic lack of trained technicians for when things go wrong. It's already a problem and will get worse as the ratio of EV's bought to available technicians widens. Could be waiting months to get your EV fixed.
