M6 shut south bound at m55 junction

Not going to clear up in time - issued @ 0845 this morning....

"The M6 in Lancashire has been closed southbound between J32 and J31 near Preston. This is following a serious road traffic collision.

Expectations from the scene are that police will be conducting a collision investigation and the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours. A diversion route has been put in place.

Access to the M6 via the M55 is also closed because of the same incident. Motorists are being asked by Lancashire Police to avoid the area and seek alternative routes wherever possible."

Thought the accident was at m55/m6 junction not junction 31
I thought the road to m6(tickled trout) had roadworks on.
It's those roadworks that have cleared 👍🏻
 
Still closed when I past North bound at 10.30. Accident cleared just 2 police cars parked where accident was. Should be open soon.
 
Just come past heading North. Poor soul died in the accident.

Utter carnage with the whole M6 still closed. Preston gridlocked and the M55 pretty much backed up to Tesco junction.

Old Man SATW wanted to set off early. We left at 11, Satnav had an eta of 12:30. Currently crawling towards the M61 and the eta is 14:05...
 
Best bet might be come through Preston via the A583, Docks, Penwortham and Lostock Hall then pick the M65 up at Bamber Bridge
