I was reading one of the Sunderland message boards during the game and almost to a man (or woman) were saying they thought Blackpool will go up and if Sunderland stay down then they want Blackpool up so they aren't competition next season. The narrative that SAFC fans are arrogant and self entitled should be well into the ether by now. I've hardly read a post, even by our dafties who probably haven't watched a stream all season, suggesting we can do Lincoln, let alone go up. Watching Blackpool more recently and can see the structure in place and perhaps the most notable understated strength is your bench. Everyone capable, comfortable on the ball and athletic.
As for Embleton, he has scored goals like that before for England u23's, our U23's and Grimsby on loan. I personally don't think for a minute we will overturn 2-0, but it is possible ofcourse. Respect to your manager and what he has pieced together. Also your owner for getting the players in early last Summer when there was a lot of doubt re Covid. Our lot were slow or simply releuctant to do business.
If it is Lincoln, I hope and I know a lot of SAFC fans do too, that Blackpool go up. After the mess you have been in and with the style of play, you deserve it. We, however, are what seems like a continued work in progress. Maybe our new owner will put us in far better shape. There are a lot of question marks over Lee Johnson at the moment, but he probably deserves another season with two windows. Well done tonight, it was more exciting than the absolute dross we have watched for the last few months.
