If the keeper had saved it and the ball stayed in play, a United player scored the rebound would it be allowed?

I imagine no rebound would have counted but who knows. The ref would have been preying it either goes in or goes wide as I doubt he would have known.
Back in the day it used to be just play until Utd score, but now they have somehow gone one better and scoring after the final whistle.
