Managers who should have gone earlier

Changing managers must be a nightmare. Is there a right time or wrong time to do it.
The obvious example is Fergie who, if rumours were true, was on the verge of getting sacked and turned out to be one of the most successful managers ever.
Then again they say managers need time. Rooney said that when he was sacked by Birmingham, but he’d done nothing to warrant that then Mobray comes along and seems to have turned their fortunes around after just a few games (although there is still a lot of work to do)
How long will Charlie get at Fleetwood?
If a manager is getting naff all from his players then agreed, he has to go BUT, just because a manager doesn’t play to a system or picks the players that the supporters want then that doesn’t justify getting shut.
A lot of people nowadays (for some strange reason) want immediate success and therefore will not accept the fact that it cannot happen overnight and as such managers get grief.
What I don’t understand is how certain managers get employed by clubs when they don’t really have any track record.
However, it is very easy to start saying things like “We shouldn’t have picked him in the first place” etc when it does go pear shaped.
I read a few posts on here about McCarthy “sounding good” in his first interview and looking back he had lots and lots of experience but he looked like he had no idea at all, yet had it worked out then the same supporters who shouted they didn’t want him in the first place would have been shouting that they knew he was the right man for the job had he been successful.

We actually got some great results first few matches after West Ham but it did not last long
The begining of the following season the opening games we looked unstoppable. I remember the game against Leeds where we went a goal down (against the run of play) and we just over powered them, I think it was the tyrannosaurus Mick who was manager of leeds who stated afterwards that if they finished the season one place behind us they would be promoted automatically. Probably a good thing it all fell apart really.

It was Colin Wanker

Holloway should have gone after West Ham, took too much out of him and was clear his enthusiasm had gone, probably ever since too
We started the next season playing arguably the best football we had ever played
It went tits up when KO appeared to renegedon the DJ deal that was meant to be happening but kept getting delayed and then Holloway seemed to have his bubble popped

Wenger at Arsenal

Clough at Forest

Both stayed on past their sell by date because they had achieved so much for the club, for the fans, etc

Wenger totally fits the bill.
Have no feelings for Arsenal one way or another but felt he needs to go ASAP. All seemed to stem from the move from Highbury that he had a big input if I remember rightly?

Wenger was hamstrung massively by finances. Had to sell their best player most seasons and he could only keep finding cheap gems for so long. He actually did a fantastic job keeping them up there for as long as he did.
He should have gone after they beat City in the FA Cup final

I remember that quote. Warnock, not McCarthy.

Holloway had just bought a house in Lytham so I don't think he'd lost his enthusiasm just his enthusiasm to work for the Oystons. The Crystal Palace job had also just become available and the opportunity to move back down South suited his personall circumstances.
