Had to venture into a number of shops.
Most were wearing masks in the bigger stores still a couple in each were not. One was my next door neighbour who is a tool.
Not many in the shops but i would say 80%- 85% compliance.
Went into a smallish convenience store and different story 7 people used the store whilst i was there only 2 wearing masks including me.

I maintain that a significant minority dont give a monkeys & choose to flaunt guidelines.

9 of the 11 unmasked folk i saw were male.

Im not saying that small shops are major hubs of transmission but just highlighting the attitudes of certain people in this case mainly males.

I just think it gives an insight into people general attitude towards the pandemic.
I should imagine those not taking the mask guidelines seriously will also be the ones not taking the 'rule of 6' or home visits seriously.
I doubt they will have downloaded the app & may not get tested even if they have symptoms.

I also appreciate many 'carriers' may be asymptomatic & peak cough & cold season is just round the corner.

So anyhow what is your experience i am sure it may differ depending on location, time of day & stores, you could just hit a 'bad shop' at a certain time as i possibly did in FY4.

The only regular updater on shopping behaviour has been Bifster. So here is a chance to gauge wider opinion.
Also posting postcode area may be an idea?

Cmon Pollsters get involved :)

Your comments about smaller shops reflect the experience of a fair few posters on a thread a couple of weeks ago. It may be they think, because they are in for a shorter while, they don't need to, misunderstanding the 15 minutes rule for contact.

Or they might just be deniers

I posted on that thread about my local convenience shop/offy.
There’s been no change, there’s rarely a mask in sight.
On the other hand, in some shops I’ve been in it’s been 100% compliance.

Been in one stop daggers hall lane four times in last 7 days , yet to see anybody wear one and last Friday evening there were about ten people in .
one girl probably in her 20s but looked about fifty said she can’t wear one cis of chronic asthma, she then proceeded to purchase 40 fags😃

Could be that with smaller shops they know the people behind the counter, perhaps consider themselves friends, and thus behave differently than they would with strangers.

I voted 90+ but not 100,though I would say it is close.
However other than occasional visits to my local geeengrocer, fishmonger( who travels over from Fleetwood) and Butcher I do all my shopping in Supermarkets which is not difficult as within a 2 mile radius and even in 2 cases a 10 minute walk we have a Tesco,Morrison’s,Sainsburys,Waitrose( the nearest) Asda,Aldi and Lidl Plus a large M&S and Boots.
In all of these I have seen only a few people ( customers) not wearing masks and that includes the three exceptions I mentioned.I have however not seen anyone challenge anyone not wearing one and in this day and age I’d be reluctant to unless it was blindingly obvious they were deliberately flouting the rules.
The only thing I do note is that in some of the supermarket staff don’t always, even now, where them but I would like to think they are assessed on arrival to work even if it just a temperature reading but who knows.
My overall view is the vast majority are doing their best to comply, at least where I live.

Seems to be a differing attitude emerging in smaller to larger stores regarding compliance where it is usually good.
I think the 'just popping in brigade' may be responsible?
As for challenging people, Its a tough one. I did challenge my neighbour & he said he forgot his & normally wears 2!!!
He is a bonafide radge pot though & a total walter mitty type. 🤪

Where I work, I’d say it’s 89%+, however, those who don’t are almost all young men 20/40, who claim exemption. It’s amazing how many people have suddenly developed asthma.

I have noticed on a few of my many trips to various supermarkets a number of TOWIE type ladies not wearing masks. In fact I saw one last night. Not forking out for a trout pout and then covering it up with a mask I guess. The selfless darlings.

Have seen a few myself.
You really cant beat going out with a fat lip looking like a victim of domestic violence 🤪

Voted 80%, because of the smaller shop experience. Most supermarkets seem to have someone on the door checking I know Morrisons do and they also have plenty of hand sanitisers. I went in the local chip shop the other week and there was only me out of 4 people that wore a mask, and really I am wearing it to protect them not me, it would be nice if they showed me the same courtesy, Twats.

The large supermarkets 90%+ but just been in my local Tesco Express and about half of the 20 customers, the young and very old were non compliant.

Edit: the security guy wasn’t wearing one

Every time I go in the Tesco on Lytham Road I can guarantee there is someone in who's unmasked even though they have door security to stop petty theft

So its not being enforced as in many shops. Surely your thieves will be wearing them at least to help hide identity 👍 🤣
