Massìve Massive over reaction? (or not?)

Not at all. And you know that. I enjoy debating with people on here and often agree to disagree.

It just gets to a point where this spoilt, entitled attitude becomes unbearable.

They’re not spoilt because they want us to do well. they’re not spoilt because they’re angry at our inconsistency. They’re spoilt because the club hired a manager they didn’t want and since that decision they have been absolutely desperate to get on the managers back wherever possible. They’re spoilt because if the manager doesn’t pick the exact lineup they would’ve picked it means he’s clueless and not getting the best out of the squad. It’s all me me me I want this I want that and if they don’t get it the toys are out of the pram.

Every time we lose I see a striking lack of criticism towards the players, it’s always toward the manager (unless it’s a player such as Connolly who has been labelled the manager’s love child for no particular reason). It’s childish.

And whenever I post something like this I’m branded as someone who can’t accept people disagreeing with me or a happy clapper. Simply because I don’t call for the manager’s head after every defeat.

I enjoy the debate. I’m not right on everything. I’ve been wrong plenty of times. But I do think there’s a difference between reasoned debate and the painstaking tantrum throwing that erupts on this forum because the manager didn’t play the centre back you wanted or he didn’t play the formation you wanted or he didn’t make the subs you wanted at the time you wanted. Im not going to apologise for calling that out for what it is. Absolute brain dead immaturity.
Some good points fairly reasoned

In what way were they better? This morning the result in the paper reads Cambridge 2 Blackpool 1. You can’t change or twist facts to suit your agenda all the time Wiz
Yet I'm pretty sure those slagging us off say Portsmouth are better than us, just had an off day. We're not allowed one.

Realistically sacking Critchley now, IMO, wouldn't be a sensible solution.
I doubt anyone at board level has even considered that as an option.
However, so many bad days at the office and a really poor away record must be a major cause for concern.

I wouldn't say sack him but it's inevitable it's going to happen at some point so in the meantime we just have to wait for that day and moan away.

I think it’s a minority who are suggesting Critchley needs to go and it’s mainly people who didn’t want him in the first place. It’s going to be the same until he goes or we get promoted, even if we do go up there'll still be some who'll be against him.

When Critchley out is being chanted at games it might be time but I think we're some way off that. Over the last month we've had some great performances and a couple of stinkers where we should have played better. We're also playing most of the top ten at home in the second half of the season and our home record is pretty good. We've still got 24 games to play and we've been promoted from worse positions, it's not the time for a managerial change.

He has work to do, we need a better gameplan away from home and a plan B for when we aren't being effective against lesser sides. There have been some frustrating moments but there were in 20/21 too.

As you say Insider it’s not the formation it’s the lack of a plan B when it’s not working. Doing the same thing every week gives opposing coaches all the info they need to try and stop us.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't tonight.
That defeat (and the Northampton one) could make for an uncomfortable night for Mr Critchley tonight.

Bump.
Clutching at straws in defence of today's very poor performance I just wonder if more players than just Pennington and Gabriel were ill?
Bugs or viruses have a habit of spreading quickly and easily around football teams and yes I do realise this was just another in a series of poor away performances.

I’m afraid the main infection that seems to be spreading through the squad is the inability to defend or make telling contributions.😁

Ask yourself who the fuck is going to want to buy a season ticket next season with Critchley in charge. There is your answer.
I’m giving serious thought about the rest of this season, let alone getting one next season. 6 hour round trip for me to watch home games. More often than not I’ve found most games a bit dull. Even most of the games we’ve won.

A genuinely think football, as a sport, is getting far too technical and stats based. Building from the back, 20 odd backward and sideways “build up” play. It’s boring to watch. Sorry. It just is to me. All teams playing virtually the same formation and the same possession based game.

And our 61% possession got us dead far today without a single shot on target against a team who hadn’t won since October 21st.

You can blame Critchley as much as you want but the players let the fans down who spent their hard earned money and travelled for hours to watch that shit today

Critchley continues to play a formation that was failing early in the season. We are sleepwalking to mediocrity. Losing is one thing but the team is boring. My dad is said shall we switch over and watch a different game.

He has lost the fans. People will go on about support the club no matter what. That's great for the hardy few that turn up regardless but that's not reality.

Normally I'm in the not to over react to one/ result performance camp but today was dismal and unless we can start reproducing home form away them the season will start to get away from us. What can be done, is a good question? Two things I think, one pass the ball around quicker and with purpose so we get Dembele and CJ one on one facing their goal and when the opposition get some joy stopping that attack domn the left, so Dale has to start. Second tell Dembele is he is one of the best players in the league which means he will cop for some stick and to keep playing down the middle of the pitch and not to drift out wide all the time when he has taken a knock of two.

When we become too reliant on one player then there's a big issue. No plan B, and plan A looked pretty ordinary against a side happy to play on the break. It's like watching Man United. Two coaches who encourage overplaying and ** about with the ball at the back.

Overall (all competitions) the seasons stats are P29 W15 D6 L8 F52 A36. Do those represent a negative formation?
How about just league stats as the cup ones taint it because some of the poor first-teamers don't play and more often than not the wing-backs are better in the so-called 2nd string.

What do all the other football related staff we employ do. Does the director of football not do a bit of directing ?
Do the analysts not pass on the statistics?
Do Groucho and Harpo his assistants not say, can i have a word boss.
We are shit away from home, he's tried changing the team but not the formation. He's tried making substitutions but not the formation.
When we keep losing away from home, has no one got the bollocks to stand up to him ?

Good post, sums it up for me as well except your last paragraph…… Critchley’s as much to blame mate, he sets them up to fail
