Massive win that

Wasn't expecting anything from that tonight at all so on my predictions for the last 10 games I am plus 4 so will definitely take that.

It certainly wasn't pretty and the pitch was shocking, a real energy sapper on top of the effort the players put in on Saturday because of that useless referee. Northampton are no mugs, they slowed the game down and made us do the work, we were by far the better team but failed to pick up the pace and really take the game to them but because of the 2 reasons above you can understand it.

We did score a perfectly good goal in the first half and so it was a deserved victory.

I thought the back 3 had great games, particularly Casey and the 2 wing backs did well, especially Coulson who is showing us why we bought him here.

Dembele put in a superb ball for the goal but wasn't at his best, looked leggy and his injury is a huge concern. I thought the game passed Norburn by and that put pressure on Byers, I think with the way Northampton were playing we would have been better with Virtue or Carey on to give us a more positive perspective.

Bees and Rhodes ran their socks off but barely got a sniff because we were labouring in midfield.

The 3 injuries in the last 2 games are a real concern, I can't see Hubby back for a while, Norburn & Dembele will need to be assessed but I didn't like the way Kaddy came off the pitch, he is one player we need for all the games in the run in.

Still, up to 7th, Oxford smashed by Notlob 1 point behind Stevenage who have 2 games in hand. We have to hope Posh stick a few past them tomorrow night. Lincoln are absolutely on fire at the moment, 2 points behind us with a better goal difference but Orient seem to be slipping away. So it's between us, Oxford, Stevenage and Lincoln for 6th place. Stevenage are going along steadily, Oxford are in free fall and ourselves and Lincoln are the form teams. Still 24 points to play for so 17 points from 8 games should do it. Not easy but they need to rest now and get ready to go again on Saturday. Every game is a cup final now so well done to the players tonight and a massive well done to those who went all that way, tremendous effort.

Agree with all that. It's made an enormous difference to this team having Gabriel and Coulson at wingback and Byers in the middle. Much more solid than playing Connolly and CJ as wingbacks, and the result has been a significant improvement in our defence, shown by three clean sheets in a row now.

Dembele is fine 👌

It really isn't that complicated. Play the best players in their best positions and you'll get results.

Don't agree with everything there.
I honestly thought that we never looked troubled.
Thought we moved the ball around the back quicker, the midfield for most part were constantly looking to go forward.
Bees and Rhodes always kept their defence on their toes.
I'd imagine Dembele and Norburn were taken off as a precautions as I've not seen us that comfortable in a game since Pompy away👍🏻
Jesus!! Even I'm starting to believe 🤪

Byers and Coulson have made a big difference. Coulson was very impressive on the left last night. Good balance and can whip a decent ball in off his left peg.

Fancy not playing Byers,Coulson and Gabriel earlier in the season
WHAT???

For Byers he could have played Connelly with the double bonus of the fact he can play there and it would have kept him away from LWB. For Coulson, Husband can play there and still have had 3 CB's. For Gabriel, possibly Moore and even when JordyG was fit he wasn't playing league games.

Maybe that Fleetwood postponement is a blessing.
Big effort at Wigan then nearly 2 week break.
Chance for injured players to recover.
If other results are kind, you are 100% right. We've started to pick up a few little knocks, so a chance to rest, recover and prepare for the final slog could be massive to our play off hopes.

That was the point.
The point is these players are playing in their correct positions. Earlier in the season JordyG would have been the DCM, Byers a No 10 and Coulson RW. Even pre-them we would have been a better team with Hubby at LWB, CC the DCM and at a push CJ/Moore at RWB with JG coming in when he was fit (pre Christmas I think).
