Masters 2024, who'll win the green jacket

I sincerely hope Rory gets the grand slam.
Ludvig Aberg could be there or there abouts, 1st timers have won it before🤷
Mr Charisma, Patrick Cantlay could be challenging and as much as I dislike everything LIV stands for, Johnson, Koepka and Rham will probably be up there too.

Roll on Thursday, when we'll here those words, "on the tee, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson"
Then we're off👍🏻

Other than the usual suspects I like having a look for a bit of value.

Wyndham Clark is in great form, Corey Connors is always high on a leaderboard. Also Max Homa and Shane Lowry.

I was incredibly impressed with the young leftie Akshay Bhatia who won the Texas Open on Sunday. He's been up there on leaderboards for a few weeks now too. Hits the ball absolutely miles which is always a good thing at Augusta.

Always a bit of a lottery. As much as I dislike LIV it is good to see all of the best players playing together in the majors.

Do like golf. So does mrs Tom. Never hit a ball in my life but just the scenery at Augusta makes it a great watch.

I can't see past Scheffler now he's learnt how to putt.

I'll do 4 x £2.50 ew ranging from 20/1-100/1 odds. I've not checked the markets yet but I think Matsuyama has a good ew chance as in a bit of form and a previous winner.

It's always sad seeing Watson with the starters, my favourite golfer to watch along with Seve, seems like only yesterday he was still a force, never won a major after Seve beat him in 84 and he found the road, it's the only time I can remember him being in contention and not winning (2009 aside) even though I know he was runner up probably more than anyone.

If he’d have won the 2009 open (which he should have) it would have gone down in history as the greatest win in golf ever

Up there with Nicklaus in 86, probably better because Seve threw that one away.

Anyway, now the Cods have been seen to, back to more important matters.
C'mon 50's tell us how shite Rory is😁

Scheffler clearly a strong contender on paper. Clark also playing really well. Brookes and Cantlay are probably realistic contenders from the Yanks too. Raam, Hovland and Rory from the European contingent. But too tough to call really. Only thing I know is I'm looking forward to watching it as always.

Ridiculously difficult to pick a winner, golf is a streaky game and any of the top players can win. Used to love the masters but the last few years I've found a bit dull.

To spice it up you'll need a PGA player up against a LIV player on the last day in the final 2.
Obviously if a LIV player is a yank then he'll get the home support regardless, especially if he's up against a European 🙄

If you could play one hole at Augusta National which one would it be and why?

Mine would be the 18th, set up perfectly for my little fade with a medium/long iron into the green 👍🏻

Think it would have to be 12th or 13th but probably the latter just to knife a wedge into the azalea’s 😂

Weather forecast is terrible tomorrow so might not get a lot of play. Other three days is set fine .

Rory out with Scheffler and Schauffele in the 14th group early doors, so might get quite a few holes in before the predicted halt in play.

Just seen an interview with McIlroy and I know it's his job but he just given all the past winners from 1990 to present day!!!
Funny when he said 20 Dustin Johnson, 21 Hideki, 22 Scottie Scheffler, 23 Rham, 24 Rory McIlroy 😁👍🏻

Have to be the 16th, I could easily reach that one in regulation even into a breeze

Bryson got the best of the weather but Scheffler the one to beat again. Playing really well even in the wind.

One of my golfing buddies has been lucky enough to play Augusta. He said one thing the cameras don’t pick up is just how hilly the course is and how undulating the greens are. He also commented on how big the property is compared to what you see on television. Apparently the members were so welcoming toward him and even though he was just a random English guy from Surrey, they all knew his first name (god knows how) and called him as such! Bucket list stuff that!

Be interesting to see how some of the players cope with the extra holes they've to play, the likes of Homa and Aberg who are both up there.
They'll be playing anything from 20 to 24 holes today whilst the likes of Dechambeau and Scheffler already have the 1st round done n dusted.

These are top, fit professionals. They play 36 no bother in the Ryder Cup with just as much pressure.

The Ryder cup is a completely different animal Wiz.
At any one time you've a maximum of 16 players out on the course for the first 2 days. Even Sunday there are only 24 players out there.
At the masters there are 89 competitors out there with the tournament committee having to change tee times, changing the pins, allocating range times etc.

You're quite correct saying they are top fit pros (with the exception of tiger😉) however, it'll be the stop start nature of the day for the players still to complete their first round that might affect them.

Yes, it might have an effect, but with what's on offer, they'll be focused and might have an advantage if the wind has dropped.

At the moment 11 masters champions are set to miss the cut and they're not all past it champs either 😬

I've watched pretty much every PGA event Rory has played in for a long time. He's just not the player he was. There are so many reasons for his decline.

Butch Harmon has been telling the TV audiences that his swing is too long for wedges and that he wants it "too much". That's not it for me. He's always flown the ball higher than anyone and his swing is incredible. No successful sportsman ever "wanted it too much" that he failed miserably old man.

It's all in the mind. I wish Rory went back to Ireland and played golf. Stopped going to the gym and bulking up. Something that has ruined Tiger and Bryson.

The fact he's been thrown under the bus by the PGA Chairman has also ruined him for me. And I don't think he'll ever recover. It must be excruciating for him even playing right now when lesser players have earned hundreds of millions. And it's unlikely he'll ever get an equal payoff - even though he'd have gone for fckin way more than ANY of the others. I feel his pain totally.

I wish he'd go back and just enjoy his golf on the European Tour, get his mojo back and enjoy golf. But even that's gone now and it's shite and also under the thumb of the Arabians.

I think he'll carry on and he might win the odd tournament. But I think he's burnt out which is a massive shame for him and a shame on the PGA and LIV for killing his career.

The 1st thing he should do is get a proper caddie and stop using his mate.
There have been loads of times tonight where JP Fitzgerald would have questioned his shot selections.
I agree totally that Rory has been thrown under the bus, totally shat on.

It used to be great to watch hi lights on the BBC but only possible if you have Sky🤨 Some golf clubs struggling with not enough youngsters taking up the sport coincidence 🤷🏽‍♂️

Good post.
Almost impossible that he hasn't won a major for over 10 years.
As you say Harmon saying he struggles to control his wedge play is unbelievable, definitely pressure and his mind set.

Great leaderboard going into round 3.
No idea who’s going to win.
Conditions have been brutal.

Hard to see past Scheffler.
Rory disappoints yet again…..hopefully he will have learnt a lot from watching Scheffler first hand in the first 2 rounds. Unless you find a large percentage of fairways it’s hard to score well. The difference between the 2 of them in terms of course management is vast.

Scheffler chips in on the 1st, Bryson drops a shot.
My boys Ludvig and Max doing ok👍🏻

It's moving day and whilst Blackpool fail to move up the table Aberg and Morikawa are playing very well.
