Matt Hancock suspended

No great surprise. Affair with a work colleague, dodgy covid contract to his mate and now this. Quite incredible he was put in a position of such responsibility.

I think he was under the misapprehension he could take his Secretary with him. No Mr Hancock, it’s not that type of “bush tucker” trial.

He'll be at home dealing with reptiles and snakes.

What a tosser!

Not suspended from Parliament itself but from the Conservative Party by having “ the Whip”removed.Nothing to stop him attending except being in Australia of course😉.
Wonder how long he”ll last, probably some time as no doubt as he”ll be on the publics list to vote for trials.

By the way I barely ever watch it but it’s difficult to avoid all the hype that goes on with this show.

Sunak says MPs should be working hard for their constituents.

Like Boris? Does anyone think he's been near his constituency since resigning?

Nadine Dorris also got the whip taken off her she came back and the old Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale the party did nothing.

After he’s handed out NHS money to mates via dodgy contracts, sent all those vulnerable old folk back to their nursing homes with covid to die or pass it on to other vulnerable residents and failed to provide care home staff and carers with the PPE they needed to do their jobs, how can ITV stoop so low.

He appears to be one of the dullest people on planet earth; he may prove me wrong. Let's hope he gets the chance to share his knowledge on dyslexia or whatever cover story he's gone with.

At a time when the country is deep in the mire, he's playing at being famous. Ridiculous.

I don't watch that shoite, or any appearance by them shoite presenters, but you can bet Nick the cock will get voted to eat plenty of horrid creatures etc.

Must admit am looking forward to seeing Boy George this year. Haven’t really followed it for a while but he’s a crowd puller for me.
The histrionics could be out there but he’s certainly an interesting individual without them anyway.

Well some certainly ain't do it just for the money! Screenshot_20221101-193633-609.png

When I first heard about this news my initial reaction was disbelief. In fact I muttered ‘get out of here’ to myself . But I actually just stayed where I was cos I’m not a celebrity. 😏

Anyways, Hancock probably has been tempted by the cash. When he was a cabinet minister his take home pay would have been much higher than it is now as a mere backbencher.
He’s had his marital break up to deal with too, so that will be costly.

He’s a very well known face so he’s quite a catch to the show’s producers.
Look at all the publicity he has already generated.

Politically he probably feel he doesn’t have much to lose. He supported Sunak but he’s been frozen out of the cabinet. He isn’t likely to make it back to the cabinet any time soon.

As far as he’s concerned, he wants to use the opportunity to highlight dyslexia which he suffers with. Or as he he would put it to his mistress, dicksexier.

I ain’t bothered what he does tbh. He’s an adult and he has opportunities and choices. Who cares if he does or doesn’t? Well his constituents have a cause for complaint perhaps. But as far as all this emotive stuff from people who lost relatives during covid, I don’t buy it. As long as he’s available to support the covid enquiry when called on they’ve no right to whinge about what the former health secretary does with his life.

I don’t like the guy. But if he wants to go earn some cash and highlight dyslexia then I don’t give a damn. I don’t know how he will balance this with his parliamentary duties - and if he can’t he should give up his seat. But maybe he can.

I reckon Hancock thinks he is going to lose his seat in the next GE no matter if he is an official Tory candidate or independent. And the way Sunak blanked him recently confirms he has no future as a senior Tory. So he might as well fill his boots on IAC-GMOOH and any other celebrity shindig while his notoriety is bankable. He’s only got 15 minutes or so.

OK, so he is an arsehole. So I hope some other D-list celeb takes him to task over his crap management of the pandemic and what he feels is his own responsibility in contributing to 200,000 UK pandemic deaths. It’s a shame there will not be a Johnny Rotten/Lydon character there who would stick it to him. I don’t think Boy George is up to it, though he may handcuff Hancock to a tree for nefarious sexual purposes.

But it is ironic that IAC-GMOOH is being filmed in the Australian jungle which country we know, due to their public health measures, had a significantly lower Covid death rate than the UK.

I think he thinks he’s a dead duck in politics now anyway, so is diversifying his income feed.

Bit like Prince Harry and many sportspeople do if they have a chance to earn high doing celebrity stuff after their regular career ( she says loosely ) goes **** up for whatever reason.

This is how we roll as a nation now, reality tv is very lucrative for some, as shallow as some may think that is, the money they can earn is pretty staggering compared to getting a proper job.

I think he was expecting to lose his back bench position soon and I now await his appearance on Strictly next year, a la Ed Balls and co.

It’s the way of the world these days. Pretty much agree with Malced and his take on this.

I have written a letter of complaint about Hancock to the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner
Further to my post, above, I have received the following reply from one of the Commissioner's staff:

Thank you for your email, I have been asked to reply.

It might be helpful if I start this response by explaining that the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards may only investigate allegations that MPs have broken the rules of conduct found in Section V. paragraphs 11-18 of the House of Commons’ Code of Conduct for Members. It is only when she receives an allegation that one of these eight rules of conduct may have been breached, as well as supporting evidence, that the Commissioner can consider opening an inquiry.

Further to this, the rules of conduct do not specify how an MP should carry out their role, neither do the rules set any service standards for the post that MPs hold. Therefore, each MP has discretion to decide exactly how they might best represent their constituency, the Commissioner’s remit does not permit her to direct MPs on how to do their job. Ultimately MPs are accountable to their constituents for their decisions when the next election is held.

I understand this reply will be disappointing but, based on the information in your email, the Commissioner would be unable to open a formal inquiry into your complaint.

Yours sincerely

IMO the real reason he has accepted the invitation is that he has just published a book about his role in the pandemic. Any publicity will sell copies and this is a part of the marketing campaign.
He is Partridgesque and lacks self awareness, inside his own mind he is a hero, not some over-promoted, slightly weird no-mark who brutally ditched his wife and kids only after being exposed having an affair with an aide which was against the government's own rules at the time. The idea of him writing a book about his role in the pandemic will upset a lot of grieving relatives of Covid victims.
Like AK I hope that somebody in the jungle is informed enough to ask him some very difficult questions, it could make interesting viewing (Like how, for instance, his local pub landlord got a contract to provide PPE).

Should be on trial in a court for what he did not doing a Bushtucker one.

One of the awful humans ever during the ‘pandemic’, completely pissed on power.

Complete dweeb who’ll be doing a charm offensive going in.

Hopefully a wild animal gets in Camp.

Sod Hancock’s pathetic list of excuses in his “Pandemic Diaries” book. Don’t contribute.
A much better read is “Vaxxers” by Prof Sarah Gilbert on how they developed the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine in record time.

Mike Tindall as well.

I’ve not watched it in years but I have to admit watching Hancock squirm has got my interest.

I actually know who a few of them are too, going to give it a go.

He’s done politically so he’s cashed out, probably hoping he can restore his reputation but I can’t see it. Great move from ITV.

To be an outrageous gay man in the early 80s means he'll be as tough as old boots.

Dear 66
Parliament is fucked.
I'm pissed off by it too
Love
Diane

Day one in camp. All celebrities have been infected with a life threatening virus.

10 stars wins a life saving vaccine. Apart from Matt Hancock who will have to just sit and hope for the best.
