Matt Hancock's rehabilitation gravy train comes off the rails

Brilliant interview by Susanne Reid, not allowing Hancock to squirm out of his transgressions of his own law. For someone in charge of policy at the time he seems remarkably badly informed about it and resorts to trying to confuse us with dates etc. Whilst denying that he broke the law he simultaneously confirms that he did break the law.

He should now go away and disappear from public life and stop trying to make people like him. Well done Suzanne Reid and Madeley also stuck the boot in over his charity donation (a paltry £10,000 of £333,000 fee he received).

🙄 Is that the same Madeley whose 2022 income was apparently £58 million. Can’t help wondering if he donated 3% of that to charity. Nice if he did

The difference being that Madeley has never said he goes to work so he can give the money to charity as Hancock implied.
I'm amazed Madeley earns so much, do you know where the income comes from?

Yep, I watched that interview and they were indeed very good; Hancock was clearly uncomfortable despite his rictus grin.

The takeaway I got was that Hancock is a person who appears to manufacture his emotional responses to a given situation instead of behaving naturally and spontaneously. His register of emotions is quite bizarre, and his approximation of empathy looks like it has been rote learned from a manual he borrowed from Steve Barclay.

And I think he will find that redemption cannot be earned so cheaply...

on closer inspection it would appear that I fell foul of some fake news (mediamass) 🤔🤦‍♂️oops

Bang on, Spud. On a purely human level, this guy was completely unfit to make so many of the calls that he did. Telling people when they could meet up to have sex or the rules around seeing dying relatives. No.

As for Suzanne Reid and Kate Garraway... they got the rules that they were asking for so often. Perhaps if they had any objections, they could've used their platform to air them at the time.

Have we not moved on yet?

He made a mistake, lost his job, got another.

My beef was that he shouldn't have been there especially after the Truss catastrophe but what he got paid, how much he gave away - couldn't care less.

It's not unreasonable under the circumstances.

No we haven't moved on.
The only reason that Hancock is noteworthy is because he was health secretary during the pandemic.
He is now cashing in on this (or trying to), it's in very poor taste and as shown above he is a hopeless liar who will lie and lie and lie about his actions. It's an outrage that he thinks he can now Segway into a media career, having made what appear to be several disastrous decisions. He should just disappear from public life.

Segue, not segway. Good post though.

Agree with your bit about his pay. My annoyance is that he's a sitting MP. If he'd rather do celebrity telly than represent his constituents then he should be sacked from Parliament. Then again, why should we expect anything honourable from him? His wife doesn't.

Didn't Nadine lose the whip when she swanned off to the jungle?

Yes, so did Hancock. It's not enough. If an MP skips their duties for other employment reasons then the constituents should be given an opportunity to deselect them.
Like a former PM trotting off to everywhere but his constituency pretending he's relevant?

When did Boris last visit his constituency?
