Just browsing through the gallery pics and noticed that MV has really bulked up since he was with us. Hes played a full season at Lincoln and is fully recovered from a bad injury. Not the most skillful player but always gives 100%. Always capable of popping up with the odd goal too. I expect him to be pushing the likes of Carey and Morgan for a regular place this season.

He'd bulked up before he went out on loan, I noticed it in pre season and commented that a year in the gym had done him some good. I also think he'll be pushing for a regular first team spot this season.

I can see him taking the ball off Dougall taking in 40 yds up the pitch and feeding attacking midfielders and strikers.
Might be old school but box to box midfielder

Media saying Wrexham want him, reported asking price is £200k 🤔 I would be tempted to sell him for that as I only see him as a squad member not a first team starter nor as the future.

I think he’ll do a job for us this season, too.

Takes a lot of hard work and determination to stay in the competitive game after a bad injury.

I like Virtue. I think he's been quite unlucky not to be able to establish himself because everytime he's looked as if he's getting there, he's got a bad injury.

After a season at Lincoln without injury, I'd be quite tempted to reassess him.

He lacks a bit of pace but he's very committed and has a good brain, has a shot on him and gets beyond the forwards sometimes in a Clarkson type way to be the spare man who can tap it home.

There were times last year when, even though it's a stretch to imagine he'd have made a fundamental difference, when I wondered if his aggressive and committed style wouldn't have done us the odd favour in midfield.

He got a reputation amongst some for being a bit shit when he had to fill in on the right wing in COVID - which I think is a bit unfair.

I think he could be useful to us.

Decent assessment.

Maybe he will start off and run his arse off until 70 minutes and depending on how the game is going we bring on fresh legs- ie Morgan.

At least we can now discuss options in midfield as last season it felt like we barely had any.

We had too many of the same player last year. Individuals with great techniques but noone doing the ball winning stuff.

A year on his contract so personally I would take £200k for him. Will do a job for us if required but he is well down the pecking order for starting.

Great assessment. 👍

He missed January and February with injury last season.

Scored 3 league goals.

Not sure he is as far down the pecking order as you think.
Trybull may be another Sicknote or a great player, never seen him so cannot assess him. One of the few not played under Critch previously.
Kenny lost his mojo last season but hopefully back to his best.
In a 3 5 2 that still leaves 3 potential places and I would not be shocked to see Matty regularly filling one of them.
A decision needs making soon though as you either sell him or extend his contract.
In L1 he will be a good player he has already proved himself at that level but not sure he would be a regular in championship

We were swamped in midfield last season and it was painfully inevitable to see.
I think Matty will drive the team forward so he is different, and he can score and we need goal scorers across all areas of the pitch.

3 league goals last season in L1.

I think they will be assessing him between now and the start of the season this is more likely to happen nearer transfer deadline day I would think, unless they already know. I'll trust Critch on this one.

Wouldn't surprise me if he stays and starts pushing for a starting spot. I love him to do well with us and think £200k is probably on the low side of what he's worth. I do doubt that he leaves unless we get another attacking MF in.

I don't think he'd be a regular starter when we've got Norburn, Carey and potentially Morgan ahead of him in the attacking midfielder role.

According to Wikipedia, MV has scored 10 goals across 102 appearances for Notts Co, Blackpool and Lincoln. Starting in 2018. So averaging 20 games and 2 goals a year. 89 games and 10 goals in 4 years if you discount the 2018 loan to Notts.
