My theory is they want to be in EUFA, which in one way wouldn't be bad because they wouldn't be buying clubs in England, but investing domestically which would improve the English game medium term.

Downside is any player that can do 25 keepy-uppies will be bought for £25m.

There are a thousand Mbappe's just waiting to be found in France. There are a thousand of every major player in every major league in the world.

It doesn't matter. European clubs will always have the best players. If a few of them go to the desert for money it doesn't matter. They will be replaced by the next big thing at football clubs that are properly supported and have all the history and the interest.

It's all relative. The desert league will never be able to have the followings that European clubs have.

The fact the saudis think by spending lots of money on half decent player will give them a product they can leverage is laughable. Who gives a fuck if Barcelona meets AFC Arab, or Man Utd play FC Dubai... they don't get it do they?! Hope they waste shit tonnes of cash.

It's not like golf where it's individuals.

I too deplore this development. But if you think it is destined to fail, you need to consider that the target audience is not necessarily Europe. Just think of all the fans in the Far East; they know all the stars in Europe and in my view will continue to watch them if they move out of Europe. The games may not be competitive initially but they can buy enough players to make it so.
