Quite possibly the best thing you've ever written. And that's saying something.

"Everything folds in on itself. There's suddenly a bloke next to me who was 4 rows back. I scream at him, he screams at me. The guy in front has turned around and we grab him. Another random face is screaming and I'm still shouting. The ball has been in the net for 20 seconds and still it's just noise. Just noise. Pure white (tangerine) noise. Nothing else exists other than this noise and I am part of it. It's flows through me and is all around me. It's everything.

I punch the air as we chant. Scarves twirl. Scarves are held aloft. We stand on seats. I survey the crowd for a second or two. It's a sea of joy. Electric joy. Together in electric dreams. He's electric. And he scores for Pool. "

The opening paragraphs were very "urban Wordsworth".
I kept waiting for a host of golden daffodils to get a mention. 👍
Had to laugh at a Stokie comment somewhere describing Bowler as a "Poundland Grealish". I think he's definitely upped his game to "Aldi" now

Well written piece td53. I don't think I'd be happy trudging to a 'middle of nowhere' stadium as a home fan. That said, they do (IMHO) have the best of the country's player sculptures outside the ground.

I've had seasons in the past where I've barely made a game cos of life (outwith boycott and that) and reading stuff on here/other places always kept me in touch and feeling like I knew more than just a 60 highlight clip showed me.

Been times when I lived for 'just back' posts from certain iconic posters..

It's really nice that some people like it. It really is. 🙂

Another fine and perceptive write up td. the only thing that surprises me as a follower of your fine ouevre, is that there is no mention of YET ANOTHER imperious Gaz nod on to put Jerry in for his moment of magic leading to the goal. The number of headers Gaz wins against the good, the bad and the ugly is nothing short of astounding.
 
These reports are absolutely brilliant, brilliantly written and the observations and small moments that make up a match day are perfectly captured. I read them every week and this is the best one yet. Really sums up what it is to be a football fan. They could be published as a book, would sum up the feelings and ups and downs of of a season to be remembered in future years even better than a highlights DVD (if there were still such a thing!). Thanks mate!

Not many writers can convey the raw emotions of the matchday experience as well or as honeslty as you do. What I particularly like is that you describe the profane, inarticulate feelings of unbridled joy so effectively. F***ing ace. Keep them coming, td53. 👏👏
