Meanwhile at Swansea

I don't think Jerry has done so well at Swansea since he went there? I've Not really followed the Championship this season though.

5 goals in 18 games according to his wiki.
Suppose that's not bad.

Charlie Patino seems to have done better.
I wonder where he'll end up once he settles somewhere?

I hope Charlie flourishes somewhere, I really liked the lad and wish him the very best🤞

He’s been largely on bench after a promising start.

Jerry used to have barren patches for us too. Then he’d get regular goals in patches. I don’t expect Swansea will have the patience to see the eventual rewards. They want instant success without the Kane / Haaland / Mbappe money.

Yes. Scores in spells, barren spells, but always works hard on and off the ball.

If he's judged on goals alone they might not be happy, but that would be unfair.

You`ve changed your tune . When he`d got one in two games or something similar at the start of the season you were rabbiting on about his hot strike rate ... so now it`s he shouldn`t judged on his strike rate alone. No why ever should a striker ever .be judged on his strike rate obviously not, perhaps on his assists then? Guess how many he`s had so far this season ,oh dear a big fat zero. What a player!!!

I seem to recall after Critchley had viewed him for half a season,he too decided his best position was on the bench . Quelle surprise.

I really don't understand why people have a go about Jerry Yates. He was quality for us, scored plenty and when he wasn't scoring he worked his socks off. I would rather a team full of "Jerry" types than a team of can't be assed because I'm better than this. Jerry did us good and made us money , well done Jerry Yates and good luck on your future (but if you play against us in the near future I hope you have a shocker👍) #UTMP

Jerry scored last Saturday against Hull and played the full 90 mins plus.

Maybe he got a knock in that game so that might be the reason he was on the bench.
Came on as sub on 45 mins yesterday

With pool game off I watched thesecond half. Jerry came on at half time .He ran his socks off, but his team mates were not very productive against an 11 man Huddersfield defence. He simply never had one chance . They introduced Patino after 70 mins or so and he started to make things happen. He looked very good. He scored a greatgoal just near the end. Maxwell played well.
Iooking at that match the two Swansea wingers were all about creating goals for themselves, expecially Bolaise

I've always said he's a decent Championship striker over a season. He scores in streaks. Did for us too, but when he's not scoring, he'll still add value through workrate.

He'll get double figures every year if he plays.

Why do you say that?

Never stops running and scores goals, same as he did for us.

Just read their forum a few weeks ago. They don't feel he is good enough.

To be honest, at Championship level, it's no surprise. Sometimes, a player suits a club but then struggles elsewhere.

You do realise Critchley signed him in League One when he became our first player to score 20+ league goals in 30 years?

If it wasn't for Yates in our last Championship season we'd have been relegated by February. He isn't the most prolific striker in the Championship but he still offers a lot to the team when he isn't scoring. That being said in a woeful side last season he still got into double figures with his goals, it's ridiculous to say he doesn't have quality.

Scored plenty of important goals for us, not sure how anyone could dislike him.

Jerry was a brilliant player for us you nobhead.

Not surprised really. We were very forgiving over the fact he didn’t score for 15 games whilst looking totally anonymous in a few of them. We generally blamed the manager and tactics and played out of position etc.
I didn’t think other championship club fans would be as forgiving.

He gives 100% of that I`ll agree. His talent as a striker is extremely limited as Critchley acknowledged by putting him on the bench for a good deal of his first season in the Championship with us.
His overall record for three clubs in the Championship is 28 goals in 128 games ( helped by several penalties he got 22 goals in TWO championship seasons and 80 games for us. Not exactly prolific.)
Rhodes though now past his prime has still illustrated for us this season the clear difference between a natural finisher and a mere trier like Yates.

Jerry is a great player but he just lacks a yard of pace to be top level championship or prem. He’s still my favourite player of the past few years.

He’s a good lower Championship striker, he’s no Piroe but he’s still their top scorer in a poor side.

Totally agree 50’s
No disrespect to Jerry but I just don’t think he is Championship material
I never have and never would doubt his commitment but that isn’t everything
We have a few players who didn’t do it in the Championship but have come good in League 1 and had Jerry stayed he would have flourished at this level
However, who can blame the lad for wanting to further his career

I think that's a bit of unfair comparison as Rhodes hasn't had a decent championship season for about 8 years. You're comparing Yates in the championship to Rhodes in League One. I reckon over the course of this season Yates and Rhodes would have similar scoring records - Yates scored over 20 prior to spending 2 seasons in the Championship, he'd have come down with us and been on fire. He's still young with more experience at a higher level.

If you compared their careers once they'd both retired, Rhodes will stand head and shoulders above Yates. He was an unbelievable goal scorer back in the day, no denying that.

You need to keep up.

A few weeks ago is not much use it is it.

We all know he can do the business in the Championship and he’s proved it again.

If 15 goals + per season then what is?

I'll keep up when I give a shit.

He's gone and we now have Beesley, Kouassi, etc to enjoy.

He’s performing to a similar level to when he was here, penalties padded his stats a bit. Rhodes and Yates together in league 1 would have been unbelievable

Who knows if this is true but am told Jerry never wanted to go to Swansea and was more keen on a move to Coventry but money spoke (and presumably the Kyle Joseph swap made that one more attractive)

I had a feeling you’d come back with that 😂 it is factually correct anyway. Googl ‘nob’ to confirm 😂
It's a no lose come back. You retort aggressively having been insulted and I say (in a hurt manner), "I was only correcting your spelling." However, as you had anticipated the spelling response I changed tack and turned it into an insult.

Then again, if you're right about the spelling I'll have to rethink my rejoinders. 🤔
