His only goal!

If it was a night match & Colin morris scored both to keep us up the I was at the game it was brilliant although it sounds unlikely if the last match of the season was a night match, my memory is rubbish but I was definitely at a night match at millmore that mattered a lot re potential relegation in the eighties or nineties and Ian hesford and Colin morris played, the last time I went to Rotherham away I got chatting to a Rotherham fan outside the new stadium & asked about the old ground, he pointed it out as it’s still standing & not far away, still used for training and non league games, it brought back some great memories & I was really happy it hadn’t been demolished for a housing estateI was at Millmoor for the last match of the 1979/80 season. We won 2-0 and stayed up. I remember Ian Hesford turning round in his goal at the end and cheering with the fans.
Skull indeed had a blinder! And what's more I then spotted him at Wembley in the play off final supporting the Pool...I remember Colin Methven having the game of his life against us, he marked tricky trev out of the game. OO came on the pitch at half time dressed like colonel sanders giving it large about his premiership dream and all the Walsall fans wetting their sides at him.
Cracking game this one won by Russell Coughlin amazing free kick.I went to Swansea in 89. We won 4 of our last 5 fixtures and had to take 3 points away at either Swansea on the Saturday (which we did winning 2-1) or at Cardiff the following Monday night (we drew 0-0). A 12-0 defeat at Cardiff would still have sent us down but we weren't too concerned!
You guessed it.... we got relegated the following season.
Tuesday night game, 6th May 1980, Paul Fletcher scored both goals. If it was a night match & Colin morris scored both to keep us up the I was at the game it was brilliant although it sounds unlikely if the last match of the season was a night match, my memory is rubbish but I was definitely at a night match at millmore that mattered a lot re potential relegation in the eighties or nineties and Ian hesford and Colin morris played, the last time I went to Rotherham away I got chatting to a Rotherham fan outside the new stadium & asked about the old ground, he pointed it out as it’s still standing & not far away, still used for training and non league games, it brought back some great memories & I was really happy it hadn’t been demolished for a housing estate
He was in the Armfield before the Wigan game.Skull indeed had a blinder! And what's more I then spotted him at Wembley in the play off final supporting the Pool...
Were we fighting relegation though as the match I remember we were?Tuesday night game, 6th May 1980, Paul Fletcher scored both goals.
It was my Brother in Law who passed the info onto the bench when someone listening to a radio gave him duff info! The bench reacted and everyone saw it prompting the pitch invasion! As mentioned above, Walsall, Lincoln and York. Remember everyone invading the pitch at Lincoln when a false rumour spread that a result was going our way in one of the other games.
Wrexham under Megson when we had a chance of sneaking into the playoffs and also Darlington. Leyton Orient at home when we won 4-1.
Also seem to recall one of the services on the way getting ransacked! It was my Brother in Law who passed the info onto the bench when someone listening to a radio gave him duff info! The bench reacted and everyone saw it prompting the pitch invasion!
Yep , we were bottom of the table when we played Newcastle at home with 4 games to go . They were 3rd from bottom with PNEThere was also an interesting relegation scrap in 1961.
We had a good end of season run when it looked like we were doomed.
We escaped at the expense of PNE!
They have never recovered!
Yes, it was win or possible relegation. Were we fighting relegation though as the match I remember we were?
Yes You Tube highlights available of the vital away win 1960/61 at a very muddy St. Andrews when we beat Birmingham 2-0. Bruce Crawford scored a cracker.Yep , we were bottom of the table when we played Newcastle at home with 4 games to go . They were 3rd from bottom with PNE
between us. We won the game 2 1 , Jimmy Armfield didn't play as he was playing for England v Scotland. He mind must have been on
how we were doing . We won one and drew two of the remaining games and stayed up by a point. PNE ( titter) and Newcastle relegated.
1966;Apologies for being presumptious Dave but I think you're the same age as my dad. He's 88 in May.
Sorry Dave no. He's a Scot, born in Ecclefechan, Dumfries & Galloway but raised in Clackmannanshire. He came south on his National Service and met my mum on the dance floor of the Palace ballroom in 1956/57.1966;
My 88th is in July.
Is your Dad Blackpool born?
Maybe we went to the same schools. Might have been a year ahead as I was usually the youngest in my year.
I finished school at 15 as my Dad got me a job as a Telegram Boy, so I didn't finish the year.
I think they had to pay for me to finish early. I was at Palatine then.
Yes , that all but secured our safety. Mind you , how on earth Birmingham weren't awarded a penalty in that first attack I'll never know.Yes You Tube highlights available of the vital away win 1960/61 at a very muddy St. Andrews when we beat Birmingham 2-0. Bruce Crawford scored a cracker.
Strangely my sisters 1st Hubby was from Dundee and was at Weeton.Sorry Dave no. He's a Scot, born in Ecclefechan, Dumfries & Galloway but raised in Clackmannanshire. He came south on his National Service and met my mum on the dance floor of the Palace ballroom in 1956/57.
There have been many up and downs since then.Last one I remember Darlington away to sneak into playoffs
09/10 was promotion to the Prem- 11/12 was the playoff final loss to Wet SpamThere have been many up and downs since then.
05/06 v Gillingham at home. Required a point to stay up. 3-3 draw.
06/07 v Swansea. A win for Pool and defeat for Bristol City would have been runners up.
Both won including the memorable 6-3 win.
07/08. Needed a result at home to Watford. drew 1-1.
08/09 Bristol City home. Needed a win to ensure Play Spot. We drew and so did Swansea.
09/10 Required a win at Man Utd . lost.
10/11. Required a result at Millwall for Play Offs. We drew
11/12. Derby at home. Required a result to ensure safety. We won.
12/13. Required win at Wigan. We won.
14/15. Fleetwood effectively took us down losing 5-1 at Peterborough.
19/20. Won at Sunderland for Play Off spot.
Have I missed any apart from 1990 where we nosedived after a cup run ( QPR etc) and relegated.
FL HQ in St Annes on the sea!Was anyone on here amongst the 2000 hardy souls who watched final game of 82/83 season.
We played Hartlepool and needed a win to climb out of bottom 4 of 4th Division.
We only drew and had to go cap in hand to FL headquarters in Lytham to seek re-election!
