in some ways i feel sorry for him
he sounded and looked a broken man in post match interviews
he was not a popular choice but he could have overcome that
one of his major problems is he is either too honest or simply not positive enough
he is not a good communicator
he doesnt quite get the fans and their expectations
he manages as if still under an oyston regime
up until 7 games ago the team were clearly playing for him
so what has happened to change mindset
results
lack of flair
fans relationship probably has passed point of no return which has to impact the team

on signings nobody knows who controls that but full time signings have been poor
too many loans none of which give consistent value save patino
players playing out of position
simon sadler has some big decisions to make
lets hope he makes the right one
he will be aware of many things we are not aware of

Some good points despite your bizarre posting style. Personally think he’s a good manager Appleton who deserves our backing. So what if he’s not mr personality, the unwarranted abuse he gets doesn’t deserve a clap at the end of the game. Lose him now and we’ll definitely go down whereas i think we’ll stay up if we give him a chance and just support the bloody team.

I think it's the complete opposite. We're down if he stays. If we get rid of him, we at least give ourselves a chance.

I think he's actually a decent manager who's been kneecapped by the board and the injuries. I think he is getting a fair bit of unwarranted slating and I think the players are hiding behind him too as a fair few of them have been way way way under par and are getting away with it to an extent.
That being said he's certainly made mistakes and his demeanor isn't the most positive and it may have just gone too far to be recoverable.

New signings to come in being reported. So you sack the manager now. I think Simon Sadler has more brains than that. The 2 Coventry guys is good reason to stand fast and support him , put trust in the new recruitment team that must be the way to go.

I'm probably not the fairest judge because I've never really wanted Appleton, the fact he acknowledged the fans dislike of him at least shows he is fully aware. I just think someone needs to think how this can possibly play out in a positive way? I just can't think of that, he's a poor manager, coach, communicator. I'll give him some credit for today though, it was a brave selection, we gave it a go and in the end deserved a point. If he had any, he would have pulled it out when we went down to 10 men again. All I would say is that his formation or coaching way too often asks too much of our central defenders. I'll leave it there, the next 2 games will be crucial because Sadler will have to act if he gets a barrage of abuse at home.

When you say ‘he’s a good manager’ what does that mean? His career doesn’t look particularly inspiring.

Well with a username like that I'll be polite in saying . . . your opinion is comical!

I would say the players were playing for him today if I’m being honest.

One example of why I think he’s a good manager is because with the odd exception, down to 10 men etc we nearly always finish drawn games looking the more likely to win it, often after looking outclassed in the first half. Now that can’t always be luck so that indicates to me his in game management and half time team talks are pretty good.

The problem is a lot of Lincoln fans had similar criticism of him as seen on here, thats despite him doing OK with them.

Some say he didn't connect with the fans, no plan b, motionless, terrible home record....

That's a little concerning.

There's also something for starting games correctly and not chasing games.

We finish every game having a period where we look like we will win, then we don’t.

I don’t think many great managers have built a career on nearly looking like they may win a drawn game!

Zero evidence of him being a good manager throughout this tortuous reign . Again, 4-3-3 would have killed us today if they had a decent delivery from their right winger.
Players are keeping him in a job for being what they are... professionals who are paid well to give their all.
Teams we play in the Championship have a plan as we are just bitty and seem to hope something comes off.

A good manager Wins
A bad manager doesn't
Simple
A good manager doesn't blame his players or has favourites
A bad manager lays blame on everything and everyone but himself

Which category does Appy fall into?

gnibgs like whom ?

Frankly, even if Mr Messi joined us i might think we‘d have a 50/50 chance of staying up but he‘d be injured after 3 matches !

We had enough good chances to win today.
I am not an Appleton fan but it is not his fault that our strikers just hit the goalkeeper every time they are one on one

I would play for him and give it my all. Doesn’t mean I’d help in terms of quality. The players do give everything but that alone won’t keep us up.
No but if the team and management are pulling in the same direction, it is, a good start. Appleton is made a convenient scapegoat by some.
We need game changing players, we have committed pros who in some cases have performed admirably, but we still lack a killer instinct
The injuries and suspensions, and cards have cost us at least 7 points probably more, these are not down to Appleton and with those extra points we would be comfortably midtable.
We cannot afford to made panicked signings such as Bridcutt and Ward in January as we fill the squad with average players who will not change our fortunes.
One or two good signings this window and squad revamp in summer are needed.
Oh and I forgot to mention support the team and manager in the meantime.

100% agree, even when down to 10 men we had the 2 best chances of the second half to score.

I feel his time is up sadly. I am getting bit stessed out with more post in his name. Please cant we keep things in one thread ?

That’s fine. In return, I’d expect proper footballing decisions like not playing strikers on the wing, Maxwell ahead of Grimshaw, etc.

He has been unlucky with injuries and suspensions but it’s no coincidence. We are a desperate team facing relegation.
