See he's set to replace Russell Martin at Swansea. Anyone else think "what could have been?" when we looked at him last summer, would we have stayed up if we took him on? An in demand manager now though.

He may not have interviewed well. Have no idea.

At the time I preferred him to Appleton ill confess. I didnt know anything about him really other than he played for Burnley . When his name was mentioned I searched him on the internet like most of us do i suspect and he came across as a pretty passionate guy a motivator did well with Cheltenham etc .

He didnt have Appletons experience. Appleton had good connections with Prem clubs for quality loans etc which was probably a major selling point.

Agree though Duff would have been better.

Duff was clearly a better option than Appleton. The club needs to be a lot better at assessing candidates.

I certainly think he was a better choice than Appletart (who wouldn’t be?)

But I think some of the same issues would’ve arisen in terms of squad compatibility. Duff is an out and out three at the back man, doesn’t really do wingers etc

Sure but we were equipped for 3 at the back and Bowler was leaving and was our only front line winger i think. And it was early June with summer recruitment to come.

He was my first choice. I was gutted at the time, before we appointed Appleton. Seems to be exactly the kind of character we’d like.
