Mitch Clark

Joked in another thread, There is a rugby league player with the same name, Wigan. But even though this lad is at a PL club, I have never heard of him. Must have something about him though.

First 65 mins, Pool looked comfortable without coming out of first gear.
After the wholesale changes ( which trialist was introduced ) we lost a bit of shape and never threatened at all.
Carlisle themselves created a few half chances, but that’s all they were.

The couple of decent Carlisle chances either came down their left and cutting in midfield , or long balls down the left wing.

If you threw him in with a strong back 3 alongside him he may have stood out a little more than he did.

3 loans to Port Vale over 3 years doesn't suggest much in terms of progression or that he wanted to be away from home. Can't be taking too many risks when going up to the championship

I think Critch can work it out. One way or the other.

I think we will get Gabriel this week, he is gong to be a really good wing back and will get better and better. I think Embo will stay at Sunderland so we need a creative midfielder and another striker, Yates is likely to playing alongside Madine I reckon but I would love to see Simms here once he has recovered from injury. We don't know how good Lavery is or any of the other new signings yet.

Nixon seems to think there's a better chance of Embleton than Gabriel, I think. Madine will be a bit part player. Trust me on this. 👍 He was in League One.

🤣 He helped get us back on track and if he hadn't got injured Simms wouldn't have got anywhere near as many starts as Madine & Yates were forming a great partnership. If Madine is fully fit and stays that way, he will be Yates' regular strike partner. If we get Simms back that could change.

I hope we do sign Embo, young, with bags of potential, same as Gabriel but I think we have more chance of snaffling Gabriel because Sunderland are being totally unrealistic about Embo.

We still haven't got any loans in yet either and I expect 3 really decent ones joining us before the end of the transfer window.

He won't be Yates' regular strike partner.

Not a chance in hell.

Few articles of him at Vale.

"One of the most impressive loan additions of recent years, Clark impressed so much that Vale made multiple attempts to secure the player on a permanent deal. An energetic youngster, Clark soon made the right-back position his own as he made 45 appearances for the club."

Scrafton's impression...

"I know the trialist family and Blackpool have a bit of a chequered history, but we all love it when a mystery player turns up, don’t we? It adds a bit of intrigue and excitement to what are, let’s face it, fairly dull and anodyne pre-season friendly games. Not many were expecting to see a trialist at Brunton Park on Saturday, so imagine our pleasant surprise when one was named among the subs. Judging by Neil Critchley’s post-match comments, the previously anonymous footballer is current Leicester City defender Mitch Clark, who came through the youth ranks and has previously had loan spells with Port Vale. The 22-year-old looked solid enough, but it was hard to make too much of a judgement. I suspect Critchley probably saw more of him in training leading up to Saturday’s game at Brunton Park than he did during his second-half cameo. The Wales Under-19 international made some bright forward runs and linked up well with both CJ Hamilton and Demetri Mitchell, who were constantly swapping flanks. He did produce a stray backpass to Chris Maxwell though, before committing a needless foul late on just a few yards outside Blackpool’s box."

but it’s a couple of divisions down …

Was a brilliant signing for me on Football Manager a couple of years ago and peaked at about mid table Championship level. Then again Callum Guy became a PL regular starter so 🤷‍♂️
