I give up. World is fcuked
Surely it’s just part of the redistribution of TV money to Athletes where very few are financially secure?I don't like it much, but it is probably less than some people are for winning a Diamond League event.
I'm just surprised that Coe and his ruling body think it's necessary. He should know the real value of winning an Olympic event, even if the IOC doesn't.
If you are potentially an Olympic Gold Medal winner, you are financially secure and if you weren't initially, you will be afterwards.urely it’s just part of the redistribution of TV money to Athletes where very few are financially secure
Depends on the sport! If you are potentially an Olympic Gold Medal winner, you are financially secure and if you weren't initially, you will be afterwards.
Thet is a fair point. I was only thinking about track and field.Surely it’s just part of the redistribution of TV money to Athletes where very few are financially secure?
From 2028 I think all medal classes get prize money.
It’s not just about UK Athletics though - as some Olympic sports are funded well by the UK lottery.Thet is a fair point. I was only thinking about track and field.
Reminds me though, must bone up on the spelling of key words like repechage and Keirin.....
All the old events will be wanting to make a comeback. Look out for croquet, art, ballooning and town planning all making a bid for 2028.It’s not just about UK Athletics though - as some Olympic sports are funded well by the UK lottery.
It’s about the global impact of maybe someone coming from a poor country and having little help - and achieving something miraculous.
Would I pay certain sports - no - such as football or tennis etc but many athletes need and in reality deserve financial reward.
Nah town planners already earn a fortune, their pay coming in big brown envelopes.....All the old events will be wanting to make a comeback. Look out for croquet, art, ballooning and town planning all making a bid for 2028.
