More fines

Spare change to that lot though.
It's not the fines, it's the breach of trust with the electorate.

It does make me laugh that these prosecutions have come about through admission of guilt through a questionnaire. Perhaps the police should issue more on other matters with such a good conviction rate.

Good job we don't have a complete liar in charge would might evade answering honestly...

PM and Chancellor according to Guido. Good - I was highly stressed while having my lockdown parties. Those rules were not conducive to having a good time at all.

They should both resign now.
Should and will are two different things.

Good job Parliament is in recess and he doesn't have PMQs tomorrow.

As some of us have said, they think they are above the law and acted accordingly.

Again, what spin does Lost put on it? Looking a bit foolish now, some less charitable than me would say

Lost claims its a town planning issue

In my thread about Helen MacNamara - the former Head of Government ethics who was fined for attending a very raucous Downing Street party on 18th June 2020 - Lost Seasider admonished me for stating that Boris Johnson had lied to Parliament when he said that no parties were held in Downing Street. In fact Lost posted the following:

Specifically, the question was about a "cheese and wine night" on 18 December 2020 [sic], AFAIK the PM was not in attendance.
So now you need to prove:

  • that rules were broken;
  • that the PM knew that rules were broken;
otherwise it is not a lie.

OK, so he got his dates mixed up and, indeed, Johnson was not at the 18th June do; a fact which I had included in my OP. However, Johnson had said in the Commons that there were NO parties at Downing Street. He lied. Still, that didn't prevent Lost from posting later in the thread....

Lefties like you have a tendency to make stuff up to suit their agenda, the best way to deal with that is to challenge them to prove it, something you've once again failed to do.

Now, I'm not one to bear a grudge....well, not for more than ten years, but the fellow doth protest too much, methinks. Too much and too often.

Opportune photo shoot in Kviv eh. Wot a hero.

Been listening to a phone in on the way back from golf (decent round, lovely conditions) and the level of anger this has caused in most callers was something else.

With Parliament in recess, MP's will be on holiday or back in their constituencies. They will be taking the electorate temperature this week. If the lying boys have not resigned by next week, expect enough letters to the 1922 committee to force an election. The honest, straightforward Tory voters will not stand for this, they kept the rules, missed births, marriages and deaths, and there will be a price. Expect the sycophants, and those talentless hangers on who would never get a decent job in the real world to rally, but it won't, it cannot, work. maybe the apologists on here could tell us when was the last time a Prime Minister received a criminal sanction?

Timeline of a liar

There were no parties

There may have been a party but I was unaware of it

I called by but thought it was a work event

I called by but didn't stay long

I've admitted to the police I attended numerous parties and have had a criminal sanction.

There's a war in Ukraine....

And if none of that happens wait for the local elections in May.

I know the answer but I'll wait to see if you get anyone biting.

What's your view Scara? Innocent question.
I had to work through the whole pandemic, and some of that was at the Vic. Did I see my family, you bet I did, do I care Boris drank wine in the garden with colleagues, not at all. Is he belligerent and a knob. Definitely. Heā€™s paid his fine now move on. Thereā€™s more important things going on in the world at the moment to give a fuck.

There are more important things than a Prime Minister lying to Parliament? There may well be but it's certainly up there. Our whole democratic system of Government relies on MPs telling the truth. Without that anarchy can spread and the rule of law can become defunct. That is more than just the tittle tattle of TV soap operas. These things really matter. Your not giving a fuck is just dismissive hogwash. If you really don't care then go join the great unwashed. I don't believe you are like that btw so get with the things that matter.

66, I am genuinely past caring about Boris drinking wine in the garden.

Fabricant's defence is that public sector workers, nurses, teachers etc were going back to the staff room after a shift and having a drink.

In over 40 years, I've never seen anyone have a regular drink at work on the premises after the day is done. It would a disciplinary matter.

Lying to cover a lie, while insinuating that working in Downing St is just the same as working on a covid ward.

I can accept that Scara but the lying repeatedly to Parliament - that's being dismissive of the people who you and I send to Parliament to represent us in making laws and managing them.
66, Iā€™ll let you in to a little secret. They are politicians, they all lie.

I think the war and what is happening in Ukraine is much more important than partygate. But hey, you all want your pound of flesh. I'm sure you'll get it but NOW is not the time. Why? Because Ukraine is being blitzed by Russia with thousands of people dying and we need to support the Govt in their efforts to help Ukraine defeat Russia. That's in order to establish peace across Europe once again.

But hey, maybe that's not important to you. And you accuse others of being insular when it came to Brexit. Yet Wiz, felt he needed to remind me there was a war going on. You really couldn't make this shit up that you come up with.

Right, back over to the football forum. I like talking about right wingers on there where as this place it's all about left wingers.

Obviously you have never been in the forces then!

The UK is not at war.

It was okay for Lloyd George to replace Asquith during WW1. It was okay for Churchill to replace Chamberlain during WW2. It was okay for Churchill to replace Atlee during the Korean War. It was okay for Major to replace Thatcher whilst British troops were being sent to the Gulf following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

The excuse of war in Ukraine is totally fatuous.

Did I sat we were at war? Answer no. I said that the war and what was happening in Ukraine was a more important than partygate. If you put partygate before millions of people losing their homes and their country and thousands more being killed then that's your choice. The people of Ukraine would I'm sure have a different view and as their president says appreciates all the help they are getting from the UK and other countries. Johnson will get his just desserts when the time is right. That time is not now.

He'll always look for excuses to downplay it. This is the latest.

Unfit for the role.

Meanwhile, inflation is at its highest in 30 years, taxation is at its highest levels in 40 years, fuel costs are going through the roof as is everything else.

Not bad for the prudent party of low taxation and inflation.

pretty much the same in the EU is it not? Anyway I'll just leave you and your looney left cohorts to get angrier and angrier. Have a good evening. You watching a CL game? Oh sorry, I forgot, you get angry over that as well.šŸ˜‰šŸ˜†

No it's not because most countries haven't raised taxes and have reduced fuel duties. Don't watch Champions League. BT Sport a subscription too far.

oh come on , quit the crap. Just google fuel prices at the pump in Europe. Jeez, you accuse Boris of lying and you come out with that whopper.

So we have a Prime Minister defending the rule of law abroad whilst breaking it at home. And politicians at home using the terrible death and destruction of people and a country as a smokescreen for what he has done here is pretty distasteful imo.

More Fines yes great actor. Real name Maurice born into a well known acting dynasty. Famous for breaking Dave Whelan's leg in his dressing room whilst appearing in the " Scottish play". Claimed to have had carnal relations with Rita Webb and Peggy Mount. Last seen in an episode of Holby City playing a man dying of boredom whilst reading the Avftt politics forum.šŸ˜œ

Well thatā€™s clearly not true.

Anyone who had ā€œcarnal relationsā€ with Peggy Mount would not have lived to talk about it.

Edit to ask - was that a threesome with Rita Webb? Mmmmmm. Nice.

I've made my view pretty clear.
1. The war in Ukraine is a much bigger issue than partygate but it seems some don't think so despite a European country being bombed into oblivion. If people think that then I suggest they need to look at their own moral compass.
2. Johnson is a liar and whatever else and he will one day get his come uppance. But now is not the time as the issue of what happening in Ukraine takes priority over petty squabbling and the distraction of trying to elect a new PM. The refugee crisis is a problem for him but it seems from what Zelensky says that he is thankful and grateful to the UK for the support he is getting from us. And it's the PM that is leading that support.

You like to presume things about people that aren't true. It would be better if, during the horrible war in Ukraine, our country was being run by people who tell the truth and who can command the respect of both Parliament and the public.
