Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal worth a potential £44.5m for the Wolves midfielder 😳

He did alright at Sheff Utd last season but Jesus Christ 😂

Forest have spent over £110m already this summer before this transfer, plus bringing in Lingard on a free on big wages and Dean Henderson on loan from Manure, absolutely crazy money.

Forest fancy a run to the top 4 looks like. Going to be disappointed. And skint.
This latest acquisition from Wolves is way over his true worth. Cooper knows him from other jobs but the wolfmen have taken the pish here.

How much did we spend in 2010.
A bargain turned down for that French guy who later joined Bayern Munich for a massive fee.
Scot Sinclair who helped Swansea up.
Charle Austin and many more slipped through the net.
2/3 million would have kept us up.
Even our loans were from lower leagues!
Absolute stupidity .
To be fair Jason Puncheon was from League One but was clearly good enough. We only got him because he fell out with everyone at Southampton.

Agree with the rest.

Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham will all be in the bottom 6 - fact

Absolute Oyston mentality 🤦‍♂️

It's times like this I wish I had a TARDIS and go 5 years into the future. Forest are doing the 2020s equivalent of Bradford.

I can't blame them. Well actually, purely from my own perspective, I can because I can't stand how the game has been ruined and clubs gambling with their survival to chase the prize.

But given it will happen regardless of what I think, then I'm sure they know the risks and they're going for it.

If they get away with it then well done. If they go down and they're still paying massive contracts to players who might have jumped ship, then welcome to another 20 years away from the big boys. But this time broke as well.

I must admit he caught my eye last season,he looks a huge talent and Forest are obviously buying potential here.Very skilful player, not sure who you could compare him with in the game at the moment.

They are a massive club to be fair. Not sure how this is gonna pan out but they are fully going for it and that should be applauded.
I think ‘massive’ is probably pushing it…..

As a supporter, I’d love to experience my club spending stupid money tbh… in fact I’d happily take ten years of madness and then do a Derby.

Mehdi Benatia - would have cost €100,000. Joined Udinese shortly after, then took in Juventus, Bayern Munich and Roma and was sold for about £75 Million quid in total…

The Florists = the next Leeds. Oh and the mighty didn't need a single extra player in the Prem season we just needed fair treatment from referees.
Spending money on a keeper better than Kingson would've kept us up, and wouldn't have cost much either, and ref performances wouldn't have mattered. Our recruitment when we went up was utterly shocking/non-existent. The fact we got 39 points was one of the miracles of the last 30 years in English football, and was testament to the determination and professionalism of the existing players that got us up in the first place.

Full marks to Forest for acting like they want more than mere survival.

I don't understand the problem

They have the money, they are a big club with good support and revenue streams a billionaire owner and a fantastic manager

Whats the issue?
Phil,
Like Wales they are spending future expected revenue on current activity (£115m so far). That is complete madness. No decent business could act so.
- The buyers of Burnley mortgaged the stadium/training ground against staying in the Prem - with a loan recall.
- Stretford FC owners treat future TV revenue as the family bank
- That lot down the road are at 'an interesting point in history' as the family tap is moving to a drip
Then there are:-
- Everton (push the debt down the road and call it 'Co-Vid exceptions')
- Reading (points deduction not as harsh as Bury due to proximity to London)
- Brizzle (Losses of £40million)
- Stoke (Losses of £90million - If the Coates family pull the plug - or the arse falls out of the gambling market they're charcoal oatcakes
- Derby (Have their own Simon "tells it right to the dickhead 'fans' " Sadler, but Clowes will expect a return and are still carrying £60m debt.

So, back to my first point Phil, do you need some stickle bricks or counters to help you understand

I have just liked your post but of course there's a but. Kingson could save anything except that shot straight at him. Full marks to Florist indeed except if it all goes mammaries up.

I dont understand any of that as we are talking about what Nottingham Forest are doing not other clubs

I also don't understand the Wales reference and have no idea why you would use it

Forest are unique in that the double European Cup winners haven’t been in the Premier lg for over 20 years, they have a thriving Academy and an ambitious multi millionaire owner who's willing to speculate to match the ambitions of their fans

They sold out of season tickets in a day and sold out their away membership in 20 minutes at £250 a pop

Their revenue streams are large and have the Premier league money to spend to improve their squad. The bought 2 of the best players in the Championship last season and kept their best player

Oh and the Stoke owners are worth about 8 billion quid so I'm sure they can service any debt not that it matters as we are on about Forest

I bet you were one on the people who didn't want Blackpool to spend when we got promoted incase we did a Portsmouth (they were the example at the time)

Good luck to them btw what a time to be a Forest fan

For a long time Forest fans had lingering sense of entitlement/delusion...big club, European champs, belong in Prem etc. 20 years in Championship and relegation battles knocked that out of them. They are a proper club with loyal fans who deserve time back in sunlight. Issue is not what they have spent but have they spent well. Time will tell.
