Went to the game with my kids today.

Most Blackpool fans were excellent today. Made loads of noise and my kids were singing along to it all (we live in Suffolk so my kids don't get to see Pool often).

Anyway. In a nutshell we weren't great but I don't think we deserved to lose the game. The ref gave a lot of decisions in Cambridge's favour. He was poor but, again, not the biggest surprise in the world.

As we left the ground there was a guy aggressively slagging off the Cambridge stewards who had been totally reasonable all game 'How much did you pay the ** ref you ** Southern twats. This ground is shit. Fuck off'. Come on we're all disappointed but what a dick. Targeting people who had nothing to do with the game. Trotting out chippy northerner shite. Then completely forgetting that their ground is far better than ours used to be.

I mean, the guy was thick as mince but even so, totally cringeworthy. Made us look like morons.

I saw that exchange. More entertaining than the second half!

The referee was an absolute disgrace tbf. And that’s after sending one of their lads off. Let so much go for them and blew up challenges exactly the same

Did you say anything to him? Or did you just think you’d post it on here?

Just seen the foul and offside again for their first. And the soft penalty - he was going down soon as he got in the area. Both very poor decisions.

No problem with swearing which is why I didnt complain about that in my OP. My main point is that he had a pop at the stewards who had nothing to do with it and had been totally fine all match. Old school knuckle-dragger.
Is what it is, I’d say if that’s the worst thing you’ve seen today then you’re doing pretty well.

You said he was pissed up . Enough said. Most of us have said and done stupid things whilst intoxicated .

Sounds like he made himself look a moron, no one else.
Go into any town centre on a Friday/Saturday night, there's loads of em!!

Tell it to the judge mate.

Kidding, I think you get my point though. Losing is shit but don't take it out on people who had nothing to do with that. The ref and their shit-housing players? Fine.
Agree entirely . Unfortunately some folk can’t handle their ale .

Defeats like that always bring out the worst in football fans in general.
Long haul, committed half the weekend to it, costs etc and they play like a bunch of dickheads.

Some fans have a lower IQ than a digestive biscuit and shouldn't be allowed out on their own. I don't know if BFC has any more than others Archie but people like that give a bad name to their clubs. I'm surprised your post has attracted so many adverse responses.

But is that not the nature of the game today? Cynical players 'buying' decisions from gullible officials. It shouldn't be that way, but it is what it is. Basically, now, have defenders not got to learn to be as 'cute' as their attacking counterparts, especially when in dangerous areas, such as in, and around, your own penalty area, as with the spot kick Cambridge managed to win today? I'm no expert but it is surely now all about playing tricky, unscrupulous opponents at their own game and not allowing yourself, your team, and the officials to be duped by their scheming, underhand, duplicitous ways. Ultimately, leave yourself open to the conniving endeavours of your typically determined, 'streetwise' footballing opponent, and you will be made to pay the price, as was so cynically demonstrated by Cambridge this afternoon.

Fair post
I hate cheats - puts me off the game and I personally hate cheaters so much so I’m not interested in their attributes just how much they cheat. Generally these days, I rate a player on how much they cheat - I have no time for the assassins like Souness or Keane and the more divers they hand red cards to the better PLUS heavy fines & bans

The refs at all levels whatever kit and advantages they have, aren’t brilliant but it is what it is - plus they have their own interpretation on what a good display by themselves is. Years of it takes the joy out of the game tbh

I saw the incident that I think the OP is talking about, if so, the Blackpool fan in question did appear to be very upset about something, but definitely not “super aggressive” as described.

I have absolutely no idea what had happened to upset him, but he appeared to be arguing his point vociferously, but definitely not aggressively.

Yes

I think what happened was we got beat, and he was arguing his point with the wrong people

“Chippy Northener shite”
You realise Blackpool is in the north and most people on this board are northerners?
And so am I mate.

Why did he mention southerners? Nothing to do with anything that went on in the game.

To explain the 'chippy northerner' comment. As a northerner who has lived down south for over 20 years I can tell you that I have never had any grief for being northern. But I have met some very chippy northerners who are keen to tell everyone how northern they are. It's quite boring.

He wasn't arguing anything with anyone. The stewards didn't say a word back.

He was bellowing in their silent faces, jabbing his finger with his eyes on stalks. You don't find that aggressive?

went with my 20 year old daughter. She enjoyed it despite result but commented why do grown men think it is ok to shout and swear and call the ref a c*** with their young kids next to them. Not suggesting we try and ban swearing but there is a line to draw somewhere and being at a game does not justify rank poor behaviour

Obviously a different incident to the one I saw….. or you’re exaggerating?
I was right next to it. It was totally out of order. You can't be talking about the same incident if you think it wasn't. If he wasn't out of order, I wouldn't have bothered mentioning it. We've all got better things to do than make shit up.

T, I cannot think of any situation whereby a defender could play a striker at his own game inside the penalty area.
The defender either stands off the attacker (which would allow a shot on goal) or makes a challenge and the attacker goes down and wins the pen.
I know exactly what you mean but you make it sound a lot easier than it is.
The officials need to clamp down on it hence VAR which unfortunately we don’t have.
For what it’s worth, I’ve now seen the penalty incident and to me it’s a stone waller. Just look at Grimshaw’s reaction.
He immediately gets up and throws both hands in the air pleading innocence and there were no complaints when he got booked.

It is what it is.... Who ever come up with that nugget is a ** and all that perpetuates it are cunts also also anyone that says perpetuates is a ** football is played by tihck cunts for thick cunts.

Well let’s have his name shamed on here if the authorities are passively going to do nowt

We can then ban him as a supporters group

I have had the misfortune to be ‘stuck’ in seating with gob sh***s like this on several occasions and managed to get away from them or got them removed instead - but it’s t attractive for the average fan or newbie

The result is heart braking enough

Ignore Adams Kebab. He can't help being as thick as pig shit.
Just seen this… you should @ me next time you little gimp.

Hope you’re doing ok with Fleetwood losing so much.

The guy who doesn’t go to the matches of the board he posts on having the audacity to call me thick… funny old world 😁 unlike your shit jokes you post… “I don’t go Blackpool matches but I’ll post some jokes on their message board”… sad sad existence 🤪

Its not up to him to challenge morons when you have your kids with you . All he is saying the bloke was embarrassing and I would probably agree if I would have seen it.
Agree with kids being there.

But I don’t get why you’d get home from
a football match and post about it on a football message board rather than talk about actual football, maybe it’s just “chippy Northerner shite” though, whatever that is 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hope that’s ok 👍🏼

Because it happened at the match we had all just been to. And to be fair I did mention the match before the idiot in my OP.

I'm also not aware of any AVFTT board specifically for posting dissatisfaction with fellow Pool fans. If there is if you could send me a link that'd be lovely. Thanks.

In the meantime 'chippy Northerner' refers to Northerners with a chip on their shoulder. Hope that helps?
