Morrisons takeover

I see that US private equity group Fortress Investment Group are going to takeover Morrisons in a deal worth 6.3 billion pounds, and before anyone asks what has that got to do with football - its simply something that happens with big business, whether its a supermarket or a football club.

Many people complain and moan about multi million pound entities making profits from its customers to line the pockets of shareholders, but Morrisons is a community based food retailer that people rely on to eat and is of core use and interest to said community.

I dont see campaigns to address this particular asset of community value, but it does seem that anything that can be bought and sold will be despite of the effects on others.

Where I live, They have all shut down. Only one is at Leigh stadium. Next after that is Bolton. I love Rugby league. A few years ago I read Bradford Bulls fans questioning why the Morrison's people never helped them out when they were in all kinds of trouble. They are a Bradford company. They have a right to put their money wherever they want. Think what did the fans was that the company have never done anything with any sport there. You think about it. Big companies always get involved with their local club. So it may be greed.

Maybe it’s a “fear” of association, if they sponsored or funded Bradford Bulls then fans of rivals might decide not to shop there, if Sainsbury sponsored Blackpool I bet a fair few Fleetwood/Preston et al would stop shopping there.

Good point. I know a nobber who does a lot of work around Blackpool but won’t spend any money within the town. Whether that be petrol, a butty or a pack of fags, he thinks his one man crusade will topple the local economy of the town he hates so much.

I knew they were all sad fuckers but he's obviously the king.
Spoilt for choice with all the bypass roads to get out of that hole.
