Mr Appleton seems to think …

… the negative reaction is about the fact he left pretty quickly last time round. Honestly not sure that’s even in my top five reasons for hating this appointment? In fact standing up to the previous regime might be the closest thing he has to a point in his favour…

It's definitely a big factor.
He left us when we were a joke.

If that's a big reason for peoples anger then we should let it go, we were a joke club.

"You look at them now and they’re a totally different club,” rues Appleton, alluding to the Seasiders’ 2019 takeover which concluded 32 years of Oyston ownership. “I just made a poor judgement. I didn’t do proper research on the Oystons, particularly Karl, who to this day is the most difficult man I’ve ever worked with. I could never get hold of him, and he wasn’t willing to have sensible conversations. I found him to be very disrespectful, but I was in such a rush to get out of the environment I was in – and I could never be sure I’d keep my job at Portsmouth anyway, if new owners took charge of the club.”

I know, but it's still a big factor, his demeanour while here was miserable, probably because he was miserable at the time. That's Blackpool fans experience with him.

I've watched quite a lot of interviews since then in the past couple of days and he seems a different bloke.

Tbh i don't remember his demeanour.

I'd be moody if Karl was my boss.

But it was a long time ago, he's come on and if not for his health would probably be a Championship manager before us.

He'll have developed as a person over time and what he's been through.

Isn't his demeanor generally miserable? maybe not. I just don't recall seeing him look any other way. It's only a problem really if the team struggles, but it's always good to have positive upbeat vibes, keeping fans and players positive. We like to be a happy upbeat club. Maybe that's the issue with whether he's a fit? Just wondering.....

Well, he got Lincoln to the final and lost to a side that has the best record ever and just wins playoffs.

His next season he was absent a lot fighting cancer...
He lost as many as he won at Lincoln..as I said win records is mediocre.

Nah, he's quite a cheery bloke in reality, just watch some recent interviews.

I felt more negativity around the fact that he actually came here while the Os were in charge. I cannot believe that he didn’t know what was going on at the club at the time. Equally he only left when Blackburn came calling. I did however appreciate the fact that he spoke out against the way the club was being run.
im hoping that the negativity will be a spur to him to do well and also the fact that he is mates with Ben Mansford means they will work well together.

Including the season he was away a lot fighting cancer?
He won 55 he lost 55 his win rate is 38% as I said mediocre I don’t think Michael Appleton is a Championship Manager.
154 wins from 397 games..he is a decent Manager but I don’t think Championship if I’m wrong I say I was wrong..he will get my backing obviously as he Blackpool Manager.

Personally not sure he is right for the job he’s done nothing to suggest he deserves it. That’s the kicker for me, it hardly figures in my thinking what happened 10 years ago with him. Different time and people involved. If I were judged today on what i did ten years ago. Cringe.

Some of the reaction to his appointment is frankly embarrassing from our fans.

I was sent a video about an hour ago of someone on the balcony of the hotel shouting f’in and Jeffin abuse at him as he’s having his media photos take. Utterly embarrassing how on earth does that help the club.

Did Appleton not do to Oxford what Critchley did to us?

He walked out of the role of Head Coach to become an assistant in the Premier League.

Add that to being potted by Blackburn and walking away/being released by Lincoln, and you have to wonder about what reasons there are for him to being given an opportunity to manage in the Championship again.

Other than him being close to Mansford and/or being available.

It could have been Liam Rosenior on the balcony

No, he took Oxford from L2 to 8th in L1. So slightly better than Bowyer.

Critchley's win ratio was 41% and that's decent. 38% is pretty good if you look at past Blackpool managers
