Musicians passed over you rate the most

For me Prince .
Absolute genius with his songwriting, his musicality, instrument playing and most importantly knowing and being himself for the artist he was and not following popular culture or demand.
Very self-assured in his ability and it showed, if not so self-assured in other areas of his life.
Natural musical genius for me 😍
Yours?

Pete Green. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the prog on Beeb 4 last Friday, the influence this guy had in a short space before life got on top of him, was immense. rated by luminaries such as BB King and Carlos Santana for his blues playing, founded one of the most successful bands ever, knowing he would not be a long term part of it, and writing some sublime music. Can listen and chill all night

I’ve had a few beers so a bit confused with the question. Hope not to offend you Lala, but do you mean musicians who’ve passed away, or who’s talent has been skipped over?
Passed away - Marley, Delores O’Riardan, Lennon, Hendrix, Morrison, Amy Winehouse- the list is endless really.
Skipped over - Natalie Merchant, amazing talent who should be better known.

Passed away 👍
Delores a great shout 😊 As is Winehouse, a true talent.

Have to agree with Peter Green (or Greenbaum) - an excellent blues guitarist as already posted

But as Peter has already been mentioned, I would say Brian Jones (played several instruments from the Sitar (Paint it Black) to keyboards.
Also Kurt Cobain, who could also play almost anything

Great shout that Dave, KC was awesome, thankfully he mentored Dave Grohl before passing.👍

Saxophone on The Beatles, 'You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)'...the Let It Be B side.

Singers: Elvis, Dusty Springfield
Lonnie Donegan, a big influence on British music in the '50's and '60's, with his own arrangements of the music by the likes of Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie and Lonnie Johnson (his namesake), but seems to be largely forgotten except for his 'comedy' numbers.
Israel Kamakowiwo'ole, Hawaiian Rights and Independence campaigner and great Uke player.

How to kill a thread! 😍

Shared a flat with a proper “maniac” in the eighties and it rubbed off. Loved the mtv unplugged album especially. Some lovely solo work since. Natalie Merchant is a special talent, and definitely under appreciated.
It’s a bit of a cliche, Glass, but she’s a beautiful person too. She’s spent all her life highlighting other people’s struggles. The story behind the Maniacs is amazing.
👍

I’ve got some of her albums. She’s got a unique voice. 👍 Could put some on the other thread for relaxing music. 😁

When I read the o/p title I thought you meant artists passed over in terms of talent. Righto. The one I was going to post is still alive & kicking 😬

Elvis because he was the greatest bar none. Also would have loved to see him duet with the latter greats Springsteen McCartney Bowie etc if he had lived.
