Appleton.Has his system, will not deviate.Today's line up, include Connelly, I get that, nothing at all against Callum, but,he should have been in centre mid alongside one of Patino or Carey ( I'd play Kenny, but that's just me) .. however Lyons should have been right back. As mentioned someone with steel should have been in centre mid. Jerry should have been up front, Rogers should have been on the wing ( CJ done not much wrong but Rogers is a class above him) Basically, we have the squad to do ok,we don't have the manager,make a change now,this negative stuck in his ways guy will relegate a squad that shouldn't be relegated imo.I'm just a 48yr old woman who's watched football all my life, not a professional, but obviously still think I'm right.

I didn't want Appleton in the first place but.
I have never known an injury list like we have had this season which means we have inevitably dropped points.
Also our summer recruitment was woeful for whatever reason
Because of all this I have given Appleton time to see what he could do a with a full strength side.
Well today I was one of many who thought the team selection was out of the Chrichley coaching manual.
Onto the game, yes I know we don't always start quickly but I just didn't think we ever looked like we we too bothered about winning. In the position we are in we really need to start looking like we giving it a go! Especially after the positivity of the signings and the win against Forrest.
I am tonight beginning to wonder how much longer we can give Appleton before it's too late.
 
Thing is, Bowler/Rogers/CJ didn't even try and be a bit fluid and rotate positions. It's so rigid and boring it's unreal. Hoof to Madine and there was no one near him.
 
Fair enough that he was dealt a poor hand.

But having the players available and still choosing to put square pegs in round holes is just irredeemable.

Everyone could see that the lineup was abysmal.
 
Patino and Carey are not the answer, that is clear. I like them both, they are very talented but he's killing them by not playing a defensive midfielder. As for having Yates on the bench for 72mins, it really is beyond a joke. The guy is stubborn and not very good, it's not a great combination.

Cj not done much wrong ? He’s done 2 good things all season.

Lots of things to comment on about today and I'm just having a quick read through now and this stood out as something that occurred to me during the game and has previously tbh.

I think it's just bizarre really that we have 2 good ball-playing midfielders and we bypass them by playing hoof ball to Madine.

If we're doing that then why not just play 2 defensive midfielders? There's literally no point in playing Patino and Carey.

And it also totally exposes the so called theory that Appleton develops young players as an absolute myth. They are being hung out to dry in this formation and the lack of leadership from our head coach is laughable.

It was obvious from the first couple of minutes it wasn’t right with their attacks .

Lyon’s IS a right back ! Rodger’s is a winger ! JERRY IS A STRIKER 🤬
 
In the height of relegation battle he sticks with two kids in midfield. Dougall was good enough last season so why not now? The fact he put Madine back in the side shows what an incompetent manager and no decent signings will ever change that.

I’m not sure Dougal has ever been good enough for the championship to be honest but I can’t defend him for not playing Lyons right back and pushing Connolly back into his position of central midfield if trybull isn’t match fit.
 
In my opinion, Dougall is more than good enough even if it’s just a temporary fix to try and add some experience in the middle. Would prefer Dougall over Connolly.

For all their technical ability, Carey and Patino don’t have enough influence in the game but that is difficult when you are playing long ball to Madine.

Against Huddersfield, we need play either Trybull or Dougall instead of either Carey or Patino. Yates for Madine is obvious, Appleton will eventually twig but it will be far too late.
 
I'm not going to jump on him for not bringing Dougall back as I agree with Northstand that I don't think he's ever been good enough and has been pretty woeful all season. He shoukd have played Connolly there and Lyons at full back though. Yates absolutely should have started over the Alpha Lump and CJ shouldn't be playing either
