One of the guys on our committee is in the force (South Wales), been there all his working life and his experiences mirror exactly what you state. He’s 53 and counting down the years to 55.
He says even when they catch criminals the courts / justice system just let them off with a slap.
Unless harsher punishment is dished out then in some ways I sympathise with the police. Personally I’d like to see police armed with guns and a similar approach to the USA. I’d also like to see the death penalty imposed, as in this day and age DNA evidence is proven to catch those that commit the most sickening crimes.

Social media can be a minefield of blame too, although I’m sure someone will get it right on some occasion!

Insurance companies are so painful. They should be paying you out once you have an investigation (crime) number so you can get on with you life. If the original is found in the meantime… It’s theirs to auction. I’m pretty sure they just hope people will forgive and forget! Who can afford to do that these days?

I walked out my house 7.30am to go to work, van gone.
By 9am, I had a police crime number and insurance number.
Insurance went through everything with me, but I have to wait 2 weeks for the police to tell them its not found.

Meanwhile, we have no fan for work or money to buy a new one.

Yet another set back in life.

People, it’s sad to say but cops can’t contact everyone now, the world has changed and the majority have the role of social workers which is a disgrace.

These days I deal with road fatalities but as and when I get the opportunity, like to get out and stuck in. This just doesn’t happen, and can’t happen to the extent it used to, the paperwork for everything is immense!

Please stop blaming the cops, the majority try bloody hard and are caring, passionate human beings!

Not anti police but they need to be more visible. Would fully support a review of the useless pen pushing and maybe the police federation need to lead that review process.
I think an aggressive policy on travellers would also be appreciated, they do not conform to many laws, rather than moving them on impound any vehicles that are in any way suspect.
If it is a caravan give them a second hand tent.
Most citizens only interaction with the police is to ask for crime numbers for crimes generally not obviously followed up or pay speeding fines, it needs to go way beyond that

55 is a bit young to be taking a full pension these days isn't it? Our pensions used to be 60 but they have upped it to the state pension age now.

I also had an imp, loved it someone tried to steal it in Blackpool but abandoned it as it would obviously not get them back to Glasgow.
Those were the days when I used to buy a, 10gbp scrap car to keep mine running
 
Old shape Transit tippers are fetching good money and there is loads being stolen around the Bpool area !

Yes indeed it did and the seats folded back which was quite novel.
The biggest issue was the Aluminium engine, if the car overheated you were screwed.
Never paid 100 gbp for any imp and I owned 4 (3 were scrapped to keep me going)
Could have done with ebay at the time as I bought one full car as I needed a gearbox cost me 10gbp
Last one was Hillman Husky which was like an estate or hearse if you were being unkind

He’s got his full quota in, as he says. I don’t ask how much he’s getting but it must be substantial to keep him going.
Same here, I can’t access my NHS pension until I’m state pension age but my private pensions can be taken out when I reach 55.
