NC Interview

Baring in mine what we’ve had before now, it’s a huge improvement!

It is, but I also chuckled at it.

It's a stopgap and it's great and all, but it still looks a bit tinpot. I'm absolutely fine with that. It's just funny thinking of where Critch has been (i.e. Melwood) and him having to be excited about a building that looks like it comes from some railway sidings.

I think you're all being a bit unfair to be honest. The old portacbin was like the ones they had on building sites for the site manager, it was totally and utterly pathetic, that really was 'Tinpot'. that is a new purpose fitted out building with all the facilities, including hot water! No leaky roofs, changing rooms, showers, Physio and medical rooms, offices, meeting room, canteen area and a place to relax. All done in a heartbeat. I think it's fantastic.

Herts:
I wasn't sure when I had my spying trip if there was only one module. From the picture on the interview it would appear that's all there is. It's certainly an improvement but it's not massive.
I think it will be a squeeze if all those facilities listed in your post are inside.

I’d like to see some pictures of the inside; if it’s anything at all like the new changing rooms then a few people may change their perception.

They had about 9 modules delivered that would have gone together,I haven't seen it in the flesh but my understanding was that it did have all those facilities.

It IS fantastic but it's still funny how we're getting chufties on about it. It's great, don't get me wrong, but it's just a reminder of how far we have to go that 'a modular building*' is massive progress.

It's the laughter of affection not of mockery.

In Sadler we trust!

Would look better if they got Links Signs to wrap the external walls in tangerine signage with the club badge, tower power logo etc. Would take away that building site portacabin look.

I love the idea of his philosophies and the way he wants to play, and I know some might dislike me for this, but I can’t help but feel like he is lacking in charisma. I honestly can’t wait for him to prove me wrong with results on the pitch

I think there is a lot to be said for having a base that’s your own. We’ve had nothing since the old portacabin went, they have been gymming it at the hotel, eating at the hotel, showering at the hotel, training on a pitch at Squires Gate and match days at Bloomfield. Being able to have a sanctuary at Squires Gate away from it all and then focusing on Bloomfield for match days only will pay dividends.

also Critch can deliver a proper Fergie style bollocking by all accounts....now that did surprise me but if true there is more to him than the mild mannered janitor persona we have seen

I actually think he has a twinkle in his eye and he answers slowly but looks like he could crack a joke at any time.

I have to agree with the comment about his lack of charisma.
He may know all there is to know about football & coaching, but if the players are bored to tears listening to him then there's gonna be issues.

I genuinely hope it is just nerves when he is in front of a camera and he's still learning about being a manager.

He never really played much in his career, and hasn’t managed previously (above youth level), so it makes sense his interviews would be a bit jittery.

Give him time and he’ll grow into the role, I’m sure of it.

The way I read Critchley is, he is a man of few words who expresses himself on the training pitch.

I think he'll have more to say when he's got something to talk about. Right now, there's very little to say.

New lads settling in. Nice new training building.

That's it essentially.

He's clearly playing it down. Some managers will be pontificating on Covid and holding court on life in general, which is fine and all, but I think Critch's style is quiet assassin.

Give no one any ammunition against him or insight into his head and just get on with it. There's been some great managers who have been very terse with the press in the past.

Critch doesn't seem terse as such, just guarded and I think that's deliberate. Straightest bat possible.

Not wishing to be pedantic, he is not a manager his position in the club is head coach...

I suspect there was a mate behind the camera - gurning and messing about. Which would explain why he looked on the edge of laughing throughout the whole interview.

I know there’s not a lot of real football news; but let’s not take these things seriously eh.

Just had the same 'moment' of where is charisma. Not seen one giggle yet!
