Never mind where the goals are coming from.

The absence of Stewart throughout, and Bridcutt for most of last season was the root cause of Pool’s demise. Our midfield was liberally sprinkled with young talented ball players, who were simply brushed aside by stronger opposition. They ran through us, week after week to attack our back line, which routinely buckled under the constant pressure. You don’t get out of L1 with players like Patino, Poveda and Fourini. Combative midfielders like Trybull, Dougall and (yes), even Connolly are the bedrock needed in this league. Getting it right at the Back is paramount this term, because last year, it wasn’t. Pool need a decent left sided CH. Bring back The Viking !

Is Olly Casey left footed or right footed? I think he'll be involved a lot more this season

Agreed!

Very few teams succeed without real steel in midfield.

I remember that game against Cardiff in the first season back in the Champ. Dinosaurs were roaming Bloomfield Road and they devoured our tasty little Raquel Welsh’s in midfield. We had to go and get Wintle from them to partner Kenny and scrap it out thereafter and results improved.

Last season proved that although as fans we love ball playing midfielders, these leagues rarely give them time to do so.

Fair post but I must ask....they devoured our tasty little Raquel Welsh's what?

Analogy of the day Chunky.
Didn't realise she'd died earlier this year.

The reality is that we need both some steel in midfield, as well as some ball playing creativity. We haven't really seen that since Southern, Adam and Vaughan.
I thought KDH was pretty solid but agree would like to see some southern Adam and Vaughan type players

We got lucky with those three
