New Badge

In my opinion we should switch to the tower design that SS has started to role out as a secondary badge. If we were to do this we’d be able to copyright it and make sure that we’d be the only ones able to produce blackpool gear with the badge on allowing the club more funds.

The tower badge also looks a lot cleaner than the current one and much more marketable and recognisable.

The Town Crest is an honour bestowed upon the club in the past by the good Burghers of the Borough and not one granted lightly, there aren't many clubs who get this honour and we should be proud that our Club Badge reflects the pride that the Town has in the Football Club just as the Football Club should be proud to represent the Town.

The Tower Badge is great though as you say - I think it was Nottingham Forest who introduced the Tree Logo as their Club Badge and we are lucky that we have such an iconic feature as the Tower that could be used to make ours, not many Towns/Cities are equally blessed, what would PNE use for instance, an outline of the Bus Station?) - The Tower Logo isn't new by the way, it must be nearly 40 years or over since it first appeared.

I agree that it looks fantastic on Merchandise though, but I don't see why the two can't sit proudly side by side, one for use on Club Kit and "Official" stuff - and one the Fans can own and use freely as well as the Club.

It’s just the fact that if we were to get back in the premier league it would look out of place.
We need a marketable badge for the masses.

I personally don't like the Tower logo I think its characterless and the majority of fan's I know feel the same way.

Never liked it when it was first introduced in the 80's, I can understand the Club on the fact that they make more revenue on the Tower logo.

But I spent approximately £200 at Xmas on merchandise but I personally wouldn't spend anything on the Tower logo, but I respect other fans views that like them.

I recently emailed the SLO on this issue and emailed me back and explained the Clubs position on this matter which I understand and totally agree with.

So thanks Steve for your prompt reply and keep up the good work UTMP

The tower logo is supposed to be simple and instantly recognisable, it does both of those things.

I thought when we got rid of the Oystons a good idea to get the fans back into the fabric of the club would be to run a competition to design a new badge.
Put some of the final entries to a vote of the fans a pick that for the new new badge.

fresh start fresh badge, designed by the fans.

No we already have a popular well established “new badge” which is the tower one.

The tower logo is of course totally unique to the football club whereas as has been mentioned the other one is the towns crest as used by the club. The club maybe have it about right at the moment using both but the tower logo is probably more marketable and a lot easier on the eye. Always liked the tower logo though.

What I’m trying to say is, is that it has been used in the past and now it isn’t used but we can bring it back as our new badge

I know I understand that. I was just pulling your leg.
My point of view is that everything should be brand new.
I thought a good way to get the fans back into the life of the club would be to design a new one. Obviously you’d get some daft ones, they in themselves would go some way to bringing some life back to the club. But I assume we have a lot of talented fans. Such as purdonkey. More than that if you put the competition to the whole Fylde coast think of the publicity and interest it would generate from people who would never have come into contact with the club.

just my personal opinion, not many fresh starts like this come around in life.

Fair enough

The current crest is ugly and messy IMHO - offers little to the eye and actually unless you study it represents little with regards the club. The Tower is iconic and instantly recognisable. No complaints from me if we switched.
