New Bypass finally open

Just come back from Nobberlad feckin nightmare as M55 junction closed at M6 both ways at 10am but it’s now opened up again.

The new bypass has two lanes open now from the new junction at Garstang road to windy harbour.

Still only one lane open coming in from windy harbour but lots of activity going on so looks like they are removing the other traffic cones so probably all open later this afternoon.

Also open 2 lanes from Garstang road to River Wyre hotel now as well.

Kier always said it would be fully open by first March so looks like they might be right for once. 🙏

It will always be a pointless waste of money. Likely to make traffic worse, not better. You know it’s bad when people are bypassing the bypass. Didn’t need to be that wide either. A single track road straight to the motorway would probably have been cheaper and actually serve a useful function.
 
I’ll give it a week before there’s a serious accident.
I live looking out over the stretch between the Garstang road junction to the River Wyre junction I’ve already seen cars hammering it overtaking others at well over 70mph and that was in the wet on the first afternoon it fully opened. 🙄

100%. Swathes of green belt being wasted on farming.
What it needed was a massive development to bring in more riches to the big building corporations and to swell Wyre Borough coffers.

New schools, doctors or dentist surgeries?? Nah - just pop a subway, chippy, pizza shop and Tesco express on there as services.

Also a petrol Station to replace the bypassed Shell one and a Starbucks or Caustic. I'm sure Euro Garages will already be all over it
 
Travelled along it twice today to watch development team, quickest I've been to M55 and not much slower on homeward journey
