After his comments about using food banks being a choice, I hope not. 200% rise for his wife as his secretary, he's just another self seeking Tory. Shame, as I had hoped that both he and Bob Stewart may have been decent leaders of a more inclusive Tory partyJust Watching Johnny Mercer on Question time tonight.

Awful guy, quite stupid too. Supposed to be an advocate for veterans but unsympathetic to veterans who may be struggling and using food banks.Looking at a few clips to me he came across as hectoring, patronising, a closet misogynist and a little bit stupid. He kept talking over people (especially the women) and he seemed to deliberately misrepresent the things that Bridget Phillipson said only seconds before (whilst glancing at the other man on the panel as if he expected support from him). The Green entrepreneur had the most interesting and accurate views IMO.

Spot on assessment here - and him suggesting that Service Personnel use food banks out of choice is abhorrent. The truth is that after numerous years of pay restraint (aka 0 or 1% pay rises - even when inflation was more than that - same as Nurses etc) Armed Forces pay is behind where it should be. Those who can go on strike or have union representatives have made a great deal of this and rightly so, but no one speaks up for the men and women in our Forces. It is a disgrace - as is Mercer.Looking at a few clips to me he came across as hectoring, patronising, a closet misogynist and a little bit stupid. Always suspicious of Kate Andrews shilling on behalf of her shadowy Tufton Street clientele, but thought Dale Vince came across as sincere and personable.
