New generation fighter aircraft

While we still have nut cases like Putin and Kim Jong-un around there will always be a requirement for aircraft and armed forces.

Development costs are gargantuan the consortium will still not be able to match US funding, hopefully we can pull in Airbus meaning spanish, French and German governments too, and make sure the Americans never sell an aircraft In Europe again.

Military deterrents are essential with the amount of nutcase despots around the world! The UK gave up a lot
of it’s military capability and put the brakes on new investment at the end of the Cold War as the threat scenarios changed, clearly Russia didn’t!

I think Russia gave up investment too, they are perfectly happy to throw people at the task and consume them at a shocking rate.

Bit weird to bang on about 'lefties'.

Tongue in cheek, just stirring the pot

Good news for jobs etc, also Tempest should be a beast. 🇬🇧
Tempest is already a 15 year old concept if not longer.
I’ve been retired 11 years but remember seeing a full scale mock up in the secret squirrel hangar long before I retired.
Also what ever happened to Taranis and Mantis both flew prototypes well over a decade ago?

I'll always remember the EAP flying over the Green flanked by 2 Tornadoes on a maiden flight, beautiful plane.

Taranis was a technology demonstrator,it was never intended to be anything else.

Best thing I have ever seen was the English Electric Lightning doing a flypast at a few hundred feet altitude along the main runway during a Warton Family Day, probably in the late 80’s. At the end of the runway the pilot stood it on its tail and went full afterburner up into the blue.
