There’s an awful lot of negativity around at the minute, but I think you have to give credit where it’s due. Sadler is certainly prepared to put the structure and team in place to get the recruitment right …. That bodes well in my opinion… certainly suggests that he’s serious about it.

I think he has always wanted the identify top talent, develop them, benefit from them and sell for big money model. We strayed away from that I think in the Champ - particularly the second season - and now we seem to be going back to that 100 % which is good I think. I see Owen Moxon at Carlisle gas still not signed a new contract and I would fully expect us to go back in for him in January. I assume so probably supported by the analysis staff. This is a specific senior management role and Downes wants his as they worked well together at Sheff Wed

Didn’t Downes say he was pretty much in charge of youth recruitment when he arrived or was that someone else?

Should have been sorted on Critchley's reappointment but there you go. Better late than never.

We’d appointed David Downes back in June, so this is an addition to the recruitment team. We’ve brought in some decent signings this summer and hopefully this addition to the Team will have a positive impact in January

I might be wrong but I think that is someone else , I’m sure he said though he was in charge of your recruitment in his previous role at Villa or somewhere

Not sure but I'm guessing the job involves more now than just piling up the jumpers for goalposts like it did under our previous "custodians"

I disagree - I think this is Downes put his and the strongest possible team together. Downes has a much wider remit than just recruitment technical analysis. Remember they did essentially the same roles at Sheff Wed and they brought in some top quality signings. It’s also a strategic part of the game now and you would assume this guy know his stuff and is an expert in this specific field.

This chap isn't head of recruitment. He's a data guy who provides analysis into those who make the actual recruitment decisions. Which in itself is pretty important. I would think the actual recruitment decisions are made by Downes, Critchley and one or more of the senior leadership team as a group, using that analysis as part of the decision making. What is positive is that Downes obviously thinks highly enough of this chaps abilities to want to work with him again.
It is slightly surprising that the Wendies still haven't replaced Downes with a new Head of Recruitment. It suggests that it isn't an easy role to fill, let alone fill it with sought after people like Downes. Again chimes with what you are saying BFCx3, that it feels like good progress continuing to be made in our development of club infrastructure.

Koko would never have appointed these types of individuals.
He seemed to rely in the main on the managers phone contact list. No plan no structure no forward thinking other than to cut costs.
Even if he'd have wanted to recruit these professionals they wouldnt have touched us anyway.
Its remarkable that people are wanting to leave Massive clubs like Sheff Wed to come to us.
Shows how far we've come.

Bit of a back-patting myth that.
Data analyst types flit about between jobs but most if not all of the 92 will have them in some format. Lad who was here doing it under Oyston ended up as sporting director at MK Dons and put a decent squad together for Liam Manning to coach until they sold off anyone of any worth and got relegated.

We’ve already got the ‘so called’ data analysts who are supporting the first team / Critchley. This fella is coming in specifically to work with Downes.
They worked together at Sheff Wednesday and Aston Villa, prior to that.
Interestingly he’s from Lancashire and looks to have volunteered at Blackpool around 10 years ago as part of his work experience. So funny that both him and Downes have links to the Club
