New improved ‘exciting’ Critchley

Front foot football and what’s this? Half time substitutes! (I wonder if he reads this board?)Much, much better. Ironically I thought Coulson was having his best game before being taken off.
Shout out to Beesley. Noticed he got a lot of stick on here this week but proved he is a useful striker at this level.
A glimmer of hope in the play-off race.

I said exactly that on the match thread 👍

Beesley is a goal machine. Very impressed with his goal tall 👏

The two half time subs should start on Tuesday. Should and will are not always the same thing. I thought they gave us more energy and movement.

When that fourth went in his face was crimson - he was lt going crazy and angrily shouting at the West “fuckin yes”

I will reserve judgement on Critch. We have two away games coming up. If we revert to type, the knives may be out again!

For some we could win the Champions League under Critch and it wouldn't be enough, that's why they're quiet tonight.

Fools asking for him to be sacked midweek. Get real.
Rightfully so as the performances generally haven't been good enough and there has been a severe lack of progress.

He keeps giving himself a chance though like today.

Look, credit where it is due that Critch has realised the best way of beating Bolton today was to go at them for 96 minutes.
He’d obviously told them to get it forward more when we have got the ball, instead of ** about at the back.
He made changes at half time , I think for the first time and his subs worked.
I thought Grimmy was slow to get down for what looked like a comfortable save and we went one down. But he made a couple of decent saves after that, aided both times by their player not quite getting a good contact on the ball.
All the outfield players responded to the superb backing by the fans, and a mention for Hoggy and his top quality drumming.
We showed all those present that if ever Evatt was to become our manager, he’d get the best backing by the fans and it could be a match made in heaven.
This may have pissed Critch off somewhat, compounded by not a single NC T Army chant.
At the end, we rightfully applauded the lads for their efforts and Critch had sacked ‘the fist pumps’.
But a fair few behind the goal teased and prompted him to do so and he duly obliged.
I hope he feels fuckin great tonight, but more so when he watches it back, the penny drops with regards to getting the formation and tactics right and he’ll continue this way for the run in.
Today, the fans were on it, the players responded and we all go home happy.
Let’s hope Critch and the players put in similar performances in the next 2 challenging games and give those loyal away fans the reward they so richly deserve.
If we do carry on from where we finished today, then I’m sure us fans will sing his name ‘loud n proud’ during the next home game.
When we are on it, we are hard to beat and if only we could be consistent for the run in, I beleive we will sneak into the play offs.
We collectively got it right today and IMO should cut Critch some slack and see how it pans out for the next few games.
It’s still ‘all to play for’.
UTMP!!!

Critchley seems to need to hit rock bottom with his teams playing god awful footy before he responds (at least at Blackpool). Can he deliver an unlikely promotion from this position and become a club legend?

He's had my support, but seemed out of ideas & reluctant to change systems or play our best players in their right positions. So undoubtedly got deserved stick. Whether today is a turning point we shall see. Today was good & it appeared he made early substitutions (proactive rather than the usual reactive, waiting until we'd gone behind) if that was due to knocks then that negates any tactical genius of a decision. I'm pretty sure he's going to be here for this season at least, so I'll give him my support again. Jury's out ATM.

No we just want the team to perform like we know they can. Today's results highlights how good we are and how much we are underachieving. I've said all season we have one of the best squads.

Thats’s all we ask for honest passionate football it could of gone either way for a long period of the game, well done to the manager players and fans we all came together. More of the same for the rest of the season please. Then at least we will have tried. 🍊🤞👍⚽

I think the criticism aimed at Critchley is valid. There’s no doubt we have underperformed at times this season.
Yesterday was a huge improvement though, and hopefully we can find a bit of form between now and the end of the season.

Have we actually done much different to what we might do in other home games?

Did we just have a good performance and utilise the players we had available, like Beesley being back?

I'm sure there are small things we try and improve but there wasn't really anything we saw that we hadn't seen in other games.

Infact, when they were down to 10, that WAS the time to keep the ball and pick them off really but we kept hoofing it at that point. It didn't matter and wasn't likely too but I'd have liked to have seen a bit more control and just dominate them with our extra man.

To much nonsense directed NC way, it's results that count and at the moment not doing to bad on that score, If he can cobble together some away wins then we could finish top six. IMO the vast majority of players he coaches he improves, so doing ok on that front. Only thing with how we play in general is when in possession the ball does not move around the back 3 and the pitch quick enough, oh and I'd have a 3 man midfield.

There was a moment when I thought we took off yesterday, and it was when Gabriel chased down the defender, keeper then defender again. Prior to that I thought it was a bit lacklustre. From that moment we saw energy and pressing across the pitch and a bite in the challenges. The pressing was as a unit, unlike Tuesday.

We’re as good as anything in L1 and we’ve nothing to lose. We’ve got to take it to teams, put them under pressure. We’ve let ourselves down this season allowing poor teams to play.

The strange (and annoying) thing this season is we have had some really decent entertaining games but it's the fact we've had so many turgid, insipid, awful, mind numbingly bad games which makes it so hard to work out what is happening.
Beat Orient and some will be asking for a Critch contract extension but lose and they'll be calling for his head.
It's like we're all living one game at a time at the moment.

He's in Beta phase. Let's hope it gets a full release
Rarely does Beta phase ever work and so that was refreshing!
Have never been down on Critchley as I always think there is a plan there but I have questioned before if the players have understood it.
We do have a few headless chickens in this group when things don't go our way.
