New rules on private land parking

Fell foul of these shysters Webbeye at Caunce street.
Overstayed apparently by 30 mins on their timings on camera at entrance. Penalty for this 100gbp.(60 if paid in 14 days)
Read somewhere that the maximum charge is being/has been reduced to 50gbp.
Does anyone know when it comes into effect?

Interesting thing I saw recently where there was a legal challenge on a penalty charge at a designated public parking area, privately operated. The argument was that the parking charge was 4 quid an hour or something similar, a ten minute overstay and a 50, 60 or a hundred quid charge was disproportionate as a contract penalty clause which is what the parking penalty charge is, and I'm pretty sure that the argument is disproportionate penalties on any commercial contract are illegal / or non enforceable. I think the people bringing the case also showed that the private company operating the parking specifically needed the penalty charges to make a profit, the parking charges were fixed by the local authority, so the requirement for the company was that at least 1 in ten drivers needed to overstay their limit. Can't remember if they won or not.

The whole public parking penalty issues are just a big con.

Last time I was in that there London, I saw two lads drive out of a multi story with their number plate covered up with sticky notes. They then stopped outside, removed the sticky notes and drove off.

I’ve heard recently of a faux magnetic leaf which is designed to stick to your number plate, obscuring a few numbers. Does the job against APNR.

I really hope a similar ruling is made to parking as PPI or excessive interest loans.

I’d invest all my spare time claiming back parking costs from those fleecing bastards!

Further info on this
I reluctantly paid the 60 gbp within their timeframe.
They have now sent me a letter claiming non payment and asking for 100gbp.
Obviously I have evidence of payment on my bank statement.
I hate these shysters with a passion, I am considering taking them to the small claims court for harassment and demanding money with threats(court proceedings)
Do you think a claim for 500 gbp plus costs is unrealistic/unfair?

Ignore them these charges are not legally enforable so although you'll get threatening letters there is nothing they can do.

Yep, got a few inadvertently and never pay them, nothing at all happens.

If you paid you accepted liability nothing you can do.

The action would be they are demanding a further payment when payment had been made

ignore the lot, six months down the road a final letter usually arrives with a final offer, ignore.
The last one I got was Yeovil away on the retail park, only 90 minutes parking I was there around two hours. Usual letters but they eventually go away.

I paid 60gbp reluctantly as did not want the hassle of it hanging over me.
They are now saying it is unpaid and demanding 100gbp.I have the opportunity to turn the tables on them as I have proof of payment so I have sent them an email telling them it was paid and advising if they send any further demands I will take them to small claims court, which I will do.
They are legalised shysters who are scum, so I am actually hoping they send me a further demand.
