New Signing - Reece James

Had a read of Donny's MB when Fleetwood signed Halliday - seemed to be consensus that Halliday was a trier, but that James was quality and versatile. Seems to be mutterings that he "gave up" last couple of months when he decided he was leaving.

Wow, we must be getting big time, according to this we've beaten The Massive for his signature...

What type of player is James?

The 27-year-old is reliable on the ball and loves to get forward from the wide areas.
Versatility is a big string to James' bow. He is capable of filling in in a number of positions, ranging from left wing-back or holding midfielder.
His attacking style of play would perfectly suit the brand of football (Darren, ex-Donny manager) Moore wants to implement at Hillsborough next season.

What Moore has previously said about him?

"He’s been a really good utility player for the team with the number of positions he’s played.
“We’ve played him further forward and he’s certainly showed an eye for goal. We’ve seen him play in defence, in midfield and along the front line.
“He looks equally adaptable in all the positions and it shows he has a real good footballing brain.”

A very good player and someone who is in their peak years. If Husband or Garbutt are to be replaced we need to make sure they bring with them decent experience.

Good player. 7 goals from left back last season.

Similar to Garbutt, making me think he has turned down a new deal.

"Good championship experience" says Critchley
Have to say, I'm a bit baffled by that, he played about a dozen games for Rotherham and Huddersfield about 7 years ago

Outstanding in the 3- 2 defeat. Apparently of his 48 games last year only 18 were at left back. When his contract expired seems wanted to play in the Championship . Wednesday interested but.........

He played a lot of last season in midfield, in league 1 a decent player just lacks pace, hope he does well for you but as I say lack of pace worries me in the championship

Excited, seems like poaching some of the better league 2 players worked, why not poach the better league one players now.

Yeah, laughed at them being a bigger club, If we stay up this season we'll have played 80 seasons in the top 2 divisions (Donny 19, 0 in the top div) yet we constantly get lumped in with these plebians. To be fair Donny have done some great things over the last 20 or so years, I'm sure they'll get another season or two in the championship in the next 5 years.

Pretty sure his appearances for Wigan where in the Championship given he played for them between 2015-18.
15/16 - 26 apps in League 1
16/17 - 0 apps in Champ
17/18 - 22 apps in League 1
Must have been injured for their season in the Championship. His only appearances in that league were in the 14/15 season where he made 7 for Rotherham and 6 for Huddersfield on loan from Man Utd. It's no big deal, I just feel like Critch was trying to make the point he was a more experienced Championship player than he really is. No doubt from the reaction of the Doncaster supporters however that he is Championship quality, which is what matters most.

Never played in the top flight, were playing in the conference 19 years ago, never won a major trophy, only ever won 1 minor trophy which we've won twice, smaller stadium..

Need I go on? #MASSIVE
Yeah but they do have a past it boy band member who goes to watch them 🙄
BTW - looking at the betting for next season, it looks like their stay in the basement divisions will be extended for quite some time.

Ooh good, looks like it might upset the Nobber as well 😁

Preston fans may remember Reece James and the furore that surrounded his release from North End back in 2012.
James was one of Preston’s top talents in the youth setup, but was surprisingly not offered a new deal under Graham Westley.
North End decided to focus their money on the first team, so James was released without kicking a ball for Preston’s first team.

I think this is what NC prefers, flexibility.
