New training ground planning application before Wyre BC

"In assessing the wider economic impacts of the facility one of the key aims of the new training ground is to enable the club to attract new talent as well as retaining and enhancing its existing talent to create a playing squad which is capable of delivering the club's long-term ambition of reaching and maintaining a place in the Premier League"

"Social benefits- Within the supporting documents submitted with the application the applicant has set out that one of the key goals of the introduction of the new training facility is to enable Blackpool FC to achieve its long-term vision of reaching and maintaining a place in the Premier League, the top division of English football"

Interesting comments in the application.

Hopefully wyre borough council can do a bit of good for a change. Bunch of useless clowns with no other aspirations for the borough other than to flood it with houses and no infrastructure to back it up. Bent, corrupt w&nkers
Couldn't agree more in relation to flooding it with houses & no infrastructure.
They've cocked almost every leisure facility up.
Breck YMCA closed after lock down. Vida closed but now open again thanks to the Community Trust.
i also believe the council "messing around" with renewing the lease for Poulton Golf Club!!!
Not calling them "corrupt" but definitely "Useless" !!!

Most of the Development appears to be on the Wyre side of the border, but Blaackpool Council will also need to approve as well, especially as the access is on their side. Presumably, it will also be going to their planning committee soon?

Thought it already had & the delay was with Wyre?

I've read it all and now have severe eye strain. It seems if they dont find a mesolithic settlement under the swamp it's a done deal. 👍

Good to read that the report supports the application and the policy justifications, some of which are reinforced by a precedent set by a Court of Appeal elsewhere in the country.
A lot of (not unexpected) conditions that will require further studies, surveys and details, some of which will have to be done at specific times of the year. Therefore it's going to take time if approved, so I hope nobody's expecting to see men and machinery on site anytime soon.
One step at a time. This is a big step. Fingers crossed that it's approved.

I‘m no expert but it seems what the club are planning on building meets all requirements for a Cat 1 academy. I read Ciaran Donnelys interview regarding the current academy set up and it’s fairly clear the current facilities don’t allow anything other than Cat 3. He’s been quite clear about wanting to be the best Cat 3 academy nationally but it’s clear reading between the lines that that is not the limit of his or the clubs ambition.
Once the facilities are in place it will be interesting to see if we aim straight for Cat 1 (although I’m not sure if that jump is actually possible) and therefore a PL2 team or if we try our hand as a Cat 2 team first.
