New Westminster Accounts transparency

Not sure if you’ve seen this on the news tonight?
You can now track donations and earnings for MPs. There’s already quite a few major questions to be answered by some MPs on why they are given hundreds of £k from companies that don’t exist.

This is the type of useful tool which makes it easy to check who is getting what.

Then we ask why?

My local MP, £3k+ from Friends of Israel, about the same from the Carlton club??

Something called Sultbury Trustees or something for £5k; she got an extra £18k which isn't massive, kind of shows how irrelevant she is I suppose.

It's wrong that companies that are no more than a front to fund MPs are allowed to operate in this way. I don't know if it's a cross-party thing but there needs to be full transparency for so called businesses like MPM Connect Ltd which has no employees but gave Yvette Cooper a £185k donation and regularly funds her and other MPs. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s so wrong and it’s happening in other areas as well as politics. Football clubs receiving ‘sponsorship’ from non existent companies in order to get round ffp rules
It’s a corrupt world we live in

Cooper, Streeting et al have been stupid here. Of course political parties rely on funding from supporters but there's no need to set it up in a way that looks dodgy.

Scott Benton is another getting a fair few quid from the Friends of Israel as well as gambling companies, plus £800 from Calderdale Council and the West Yorkshire Fire service.

Good to know my local taxes are being spent on an MP the other side of the Pennines.
