I hope the board are putting a lot of time and effort into this, and don't go for yet another lazy appointment. I'd rather have someone I've never heard of than most of the names suggested on here, where there seems to be a lot of tunnel vision in terms of thinking only the same old names are who we could get. Like it or not, Critchley was an ambitious, risky appointment that paid massive dividends. We persuaded him to leave the then English champions, working with some of the best youngsters in the country, to come to us. I wouldn't have him back, but I think we need to be similarly ambitious and bold. The only manager we've appointed that didn't have any managerial experience is the only one that worked. Yes, he needed an experienced assistant, but it brought success because it fitted with a coherent strategy and I think we need to get back to that, which is what the board stated they'd be doing in the recent SDM. I've no idea why they deviated from it.

I've gone for Adam done his coach badges(keeping them up to date with West Ham in summer) and has to start somewhere but only if he can get a Thompson/Calderwood/McCall type as his number 2.
Most of all the feel good factor after this season would be back with Charlie at the helm.

Not a great list.

Leam Richardson
Brian Barry-Murphy
Darrell Clarke
Kevin Phillips
Stephen Bradley
Luke Williams

Some actual names who we may be interested in speaking to.
Phillips is an interesting call. Clarke is burning his boats at Vale. Some fans have had enough of his lousy record and tinkering. He wants out, they want him out.

I think we need to stop looking at ex players/managers and find someone who is succeeding at a lower level at the start of their managerial career. For example the Notts County manager Luke Williams, who is currently top of the National League, with over 65% win ratio since he took over. We've done it before when we appointed Critchley and it worked. We need to take a chance, as the same old failed managers isn't the answer.
Yes, I don't get keep looking back at former players and managers. But we seemed to have limited options last time. Seemed to be a choice between Rosenior and Appleton last time and we ended up with the worst of these two. Up and coming manager ideal but choices may be limited again.

I did a bit more background research on Clarke at Port Vale. He signed a 5 yr contract and not long after was in the frame for the Portsmouth job but Pompey wouldn't pay the compensation fee. So there is an inevitable parting of the ways at some point. Does this make Clarke a bad choice? Possibly, but I still think he would be worth talking to if the occasion arose.

I think it comes down to 3 people at the moment. 1, Interesting option would be Brian Barry Murphy, has a clear way of playing, his Rochdale team looked good in posession, currently coaching Man City 21s, he's young and would'nt be expensive, get some good players round him he could be
successfull. 2, Charlie Adam with an experienced No2 has potential with the fan base etc. 3, Ritchie Wellens does tick a lot of boxes but not sure he
would want to come at this time. People on here seem to want possession based team all 3 candidates would bring that to the club.

Pete Wild at Barrow.
Worked a miracle there with no ££.
Managerial record over Oldham, Halifax and now Bartow.
38yrs old with over 200 games under his belt already.

Dobbie’s got it now , it’s his to lose, but really I haven’t got the foggiest idea who it might be or should be . A tough decision for Mr Saddler

Wellens - first choice

Evatt - would have been first choice but won’t happen

Dobbie if results improve

Critchley - would have been second choice but only if fans get a grip

Dobbie if he achieves the impossible, otherwise Liam Richardson for me.
Dobbie is hamstrung with the squad. Saw nothing wrong with his tactics, subs or early performance. If he lost most of remaining matches it is down to the squad, He knows who let him down, who else can play in that position, and can really only replace with development team player in most positions

None of them, for starters.

Ideal world, Ian Evatt. But he won’t leave Bolton so someone half decent who isn’t in a job. No idea who

I reckon Charlie is pretty sharp. He's a very articulate guy, and seems insightful to me.
Going for a tried and tested manager does not guarantee success.
A smart guy with recent playing experience and a major part in BFCs recent history is good for me.
With maybe Dobbie and Thompson in the management team.
Every appointment is a risk.
Charlie Adam is not articulate in any way

Robbie Neilson has left Hearts. Has managed over 350 games with a win percentage over 50% which is very impressive. Can't say I know much about his style or personality though.

I agree.

I'm not sure how people can even suggest Evo, or Rob Edwards. They both already have better jobs. Same could be argued re Wellens.

Quitchley? Asking for trouble I think.

Someone not on that list methinks.

I don’t know who I’d appoint, but I think energy and motivation to succeed is what I’d be looking for. Even great managers for me, have a bit of a shelf life. Grayson was a good manager for a while, but I just think second time around he was out of ideas, not really with the drive and energy to succeed. I fear Holloway would be the same for example.

I’d want an eloquent, young manager, maybe someone whose first job has gone well at a small club and who in interview, gave me the impression they really, really want it. I preferred Michael Duff from the candidates last time, so someone like that if it was me choosing.

Nathan Jones for me but think he might wait for a championship Job to come along. Let’s see how Dobbie fairs the last few games. Very positive first half yesterday

Sadler and Mansford needs to think outside the box, Declan Devine and Ruadhri Higgins doing good jobs at Bohemians and Derry. Or could look further abroad, Marek Papszun in Poland taken his club from the 3rd tier to top of the top flight. Good options outside the English leagues if they are willing to think laterally

What about this Will Still guy, the Reims manager? Knows the area apparently!

at the age of 17, Still moved to England to start studying to become a coach at Myerscough College in Preston, Lancashire.

Would he be interested ?

Just give the gig to Raging Bull, he's won the Sunday Alliance more times than those you mention put together and can speak English.
